A Michigan police K-9 named “Ice” recently made headlines after the Wyandotte Police Department posted a “mugshot” of him under suspicion for stealing an officer’s lunch. According to the department, an officer left his half-eaten meal in the break room while responding to a call; when he returned, Ice was seen casually exiting the room, “licking his chops,” and the lunch was gone.

The post, delivered with humorous commentary (including a mock invocation of Ice’s “Fifth Amendment right”), quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions. Many in the public leapt to Ice’s defense, and in a lighthearted follow-up, the police said there would be no charges or internal discipline.
