It is Important to start crate training your dog as soon as possible. Don't feel bad and put "human emotions " into having to put your dog in a crate. They will be fine and will learn that their crate is a safe place....This does not mean that your dog can't sleep in your bed with you or be on the couch, or wherever you enjoy having your dog..
This just means that whenever your dog feels like taking himself out of a situation, he has a safe and comfortable place to retreat to, or if you need to contain your dog for a short while when company is over, or the maid comes over, he will have a safe place to be.😊⚘. 🦮🐕‍🦺🐶 Hi, everyone! As a fellow ECHS Hornet, I would like to announce that I will be holding group classes on Saturdays and Sundays at two different parks for those of you who live in the surrounding area who are interested in teaching your dog Basic Obedience😊.

⚘ I will teach Sit, Down, Come, Leave It, heel, how to properly hold your leash and walk your dog on leash and introduce Stay.

⚘ All breeds welcome. Puppies 10 weeks and up welcome and adult dogs welcome. Must have a 4 or 6 ft leash. No retractable leashes please. Must have a fitted flat collar or quick release collar or easy walk front clip harness along with a collar. No back clip harnesses please. Must bring 3 different types of treats: 1 type crunchy..can be kibble or little cookies, 2 types soft and chewy...can be cheese or hotdog cut into small bite sized pieces or small chewy treats. Bring a bowl/container for water and a pouch of some kind(can be a zip lock) to have treats in.(treats can be mixed together or in separate baggies).

⚘Dogs/puppies must be friendly around other dogs and people. Safety is my goal. 🌟

⚘ I will be at St. Hedwig City Park on Saturday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
The address is: 1346 FM 1518
St. Hedwig, Tx 78152 (near 4 Points).
4 week class, meet once per week, 140 per dog. Dates July 30, Aug.6, Aug. 27, Sept. 3.
I can take up to 9 people and can provide chairs and water.

⚘ I will be at La Vernia City Park on Sunday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
The address is: 221 San Antonio Rd.
La Vernia, Tx 78121(behind La Vernia Country Store, and next to Bear Stadium).
4 week class, meet once per week, 140 per dog. Dates are July 31, Aug. 7, Aug 28, Sept. 4.
I can take up to 9 people and can provide chairs and water.

Folks, please be mindful of your dog's paws when taking them out for a walk during the hotter days.
Touch the ground with the palm of your hand or your bare foot and if it's too hot for you, then it's too hot for your dog.
If you own a home with a nice backyard with grass and shade, it would be best to just let your dog go potty there.
If you live in an apt. You may consider getting doggie boots if you must take your dog out to potty.

Hi everyone! So today I have 3 different ways to shape a " Heel" using Pixie, Zenith and Ryder as examples. You have to remember that " Heel" is a place that your dog should be at when out on a walk. Their front legs and shoulder should line up with your knee( as you can see in the videos).
You can shape a Heel on either your left side or your right side(it doesn't matter unless you are in the show ring, in which case it will be on the left... I teach it on the left because that's what I prefer).

Whichever side you choose, you must be consistant with it. You should pick a different word for the Movement, such as " Let's Go" and in the event your dog gets a bit In Front of you while on your walk, you would then say their name followed by the word " Heel".
Teaching a HEEL is a great way to instill self control in your dog.
You don't need many treats, just 7 or 8 small pieces....it won't take but a few minutes to practice and you should practice twice a day with some time in between.
