Cat Foster/adopt app https://www.jotform.com/form/200997587139168 All dogs are in foster care, while cats are can be visited at our shelter at 197 Middle Rd. We also keep most kittens and some special needs cats in foster care. We focus our effort

s on pets that wouldn’t do well in traditional shelters. Our mission extends to the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) of feral cats, training of dogs with behavioral challenges, and education to avoid rehoming of owned animals. What makes CARE unique is that the volunteers take in older animals, sick animals, animals with behavioral issues that would not make it in a traditional shelter, etc. CARE caters to the population of animals that others find not worthy of life. CARE sees the diamonds in the rough, the tail wags beneath the sad eyes, and rehabs the animals back to being happy, healthy, confident family pets who bring so much joy to their families. Along with our sheltering and adoption programs CARE provide basic medical support to these same animals along with helping feral cats and low income folks who would not otherwise be able to keep their pets. In cases where people have found themselves temporarily homeless we have provided shelter for their pets until they have been reunited with their owners. Most of these pets would have ended up on the streets or euthanized. Imagine losing your furry family member as well as your home ? On behalf of the homeless pets we have saved and continue to save, please accept our heartfelt gratitude and thanks. We hope you will support our mission of not giving up on any animal no matter how hopeless their situation may be. We are their voice when no one else is there.

Something that is so important when bringing a dog home is time. Time is crucial in allowing your new pup to learn who you are. Learn the smells, sights, sounds and routines of your home. Learn that they can trust you, trust is never immediate and takes - here comes that word again - time.

King left the shelter with a heavy heart. He didn’t understand why his family left him. He didn’t know why they starved him. He didn’t know why he was in a noisy shelter. He didn’t know where his next car ride was going to take him. Good news is his next car ride was to his loving foster home.

Since he arrived five days ago, he’s come out of his shell a tiny bit at a time but his foster mom knows that every tiny bit is a victory. He was cautious, understandably so, but with a patient and kind hand, he’s getting a pep in his step and a happiness in his eyes that was not there before. Here’s a before and after video (after is in the comment section!) of King’s first day and a few days later. We expect even more tiny milestones as the weeks go on and our hearts cheer with each one 😁

King will be up for adoption soon - please keep an eye out for him!

We are excited to welcome King into the rescue. He is a soulful boy around 8 years old. He was brought to the shelter about 30 pounds underweight. He is slowly filling in but has a ways to go. Our guess is he is mixed with Great Dane/Mastiff/Pit Bull type but can’t know for sure.

King is gentle natured with eyes that speak of a sad past. He seems to like female dogs his size - male dogs and small animals are unknown. He’s going to spend some time in foster so we can learn more about him and then he will be available adoption.

We are incredibly grateful for our foster, Susan, for opening her heart and home to our dogs in need. Also to Crickett and Paul for always being available for a road trip to grab a pup!

Please keep an eye out for more updates if you’re interested in adopting!
