The Ackermanville Grist Mill

The Ackermanville Grist Mill This historic Grist Mill proudly served the farming community for 188 years, and was the town meeting place, and commerce center. It is under restoration.

This page was created to honor the history of this Grist Mill, as well as the agricultural community. It is also to show the progress of the restoration. The first mill was built in 1787 on this site, and burned down about 1921-1922. This building was brought here on horse drawn carriages in the early 1920's, when the town of Wilsonville, Pa. was decommissioned and Lake Wallenpaupack was built. Th

e foundation and lower level are original. The mill was a local meeting place, and farmers would often trade a portion of their seed, corn or flour for the service of the mill. Fewer than 2500 remain standing in the U.S today. My hope is keep the history, legacy and building preserved. Eric Benson

The black-neck dog (Husky) lives in a house down the road. Every day he escapes from his yard to go down the street to visit his little friend and play with him. But when the entrance was closed, he just came, hugged his friend tight, and left, but never tried to cross that fence...❤️ Check the comments 👇
