As an Animal Care Attendant, you'll help provide daily care, comfort, and enrichment to the animals in our Adoption Wing, all while delivering friendly, compassionate customer service. You'll be part of a team that keeps our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming, under the guidance of our amazing Adoption Wing Supervisor.

Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the job because our furry friends need care every day of the year! Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Paws way up for one of our longest Cattery residents, Poppy Jane! This sweet senior girl waited eight months for a home of her own, and her patience finally paid off!

When her new family visited, it was love at first sight. They knew right away she was the one, and now Poppy is settling into the cozy, loving home she’s always deserved. 💕

We recently got some update photos, and she’s fitting in purr-fectly! Poppy is now the princess of the house, soaking up love and attention, following her human sister everywhere, and perching up high on barstools to keep an eye out for squirrels and birds. She’s even becoming a lap cat and loves having someone to snuggle with at night!

Congratulations to Poppy Jane and her new family! Thank you for choosing adoption and giving a senior pet a second chance.

The Fourth of July is almost here, and while we love the celebrations, our pets might not! Did you know more pets go missing around this holiday than any other time of year? Fireworks can be frightening, but a little planning goes a long way in keeping them safe and calm.

If your pet gets especially anxious, give our Bredel Vet Clinic a call at 301.387.7729 before July 3rd. We’re here to help!

Here are some tips to help your pets through the holiday:
🐾 Keep Them Indoors – Even if they’re used to being outside, loud noises can spook them. Double-check that all doors, windows, and gates are secure.
🐾 Create a Safe Space – Set up a cozy area with their favorite blanket, toys, and water. A familiar space can bring comfort.
🐾 Stay Close – If you can, stay home with them. Your presence helps reduce their stress.
🐾 Distract & Reward – Engage them with treats, toys, and snuggles. Reward calm behavior to help shift their focus.
🐾 Check Tags & Microchips – Make sure ID tags are up-to-date and microchip info is current, just in case.

Meet Lucy — our lovely little survivor!

Lucy arrived at HART back in February with severe eye infections that needed months of treatment. Just look at her before and after photo, what a transformation!

Though she still has a small scar on her left eye, her right eye is now crystal clear. And through it all, Lucy has kept her gentle, loving spirit. She’s calm, affectionate, and adores spending time with people. While she can be a little shy at first, preferring to come out when the Cattery is quiet, we know she’ll blossom in a home of her own.
