And just in case you think it’s all business, dog shows can be fun and games too.
Silly Jackson. He was already done with his bath but he wants to come back in.
So if you ever hear weird noises coming from the van. That’s just me. Trying to get cute pictures.
I'm adding a little biography info. In the last week I would say the majority of my clients I've talked to had no idea I show dogs. I indeed do. I have titled dogs in both conformation (beauty show like you see on TV), obedience and rally obedience. It's actually been years since I had anything to show in conformation, but I have a new girl to hit the ring with. I started out with Lhasa Apsos but have been breeding and showing parti color cockers for 30 years now. Enjoy a few photos of some of my past champions.
Chloe getting groomed. Thought this might be fun.
When you're grooming and a random dog just hops in the van
I try really hard not to take the fun out of a bath.
Get a greyhound they said. They don't shed they said. LOL! Love me some Lilly but she most certainly DOES shed!
Kong wants to be handsome and says hurry up!
Noodle the Poodle. So dang funny. Every time I go to her house this is what she does. She is not bearing her teeth or growling just so you know, she just 'smiles' when she sees me. And yes, I am old. Even though I was using my iphone to record this I refer to it as my 'video tape' :-)
Back from hot hot Vegas. Oh my that heat is stifling. Certification testing went well, competition not so much. Judge didn't like my dog,not my grooming, but the dog. Seriously was just rude about it. Here is a little video of Lidia and I having fun waiting for judging. I, frankly, thought she looked spectacular
I had to video this and sorry for those that have motion sickness, I am not the best videographer. Thunder and Vivian are two 140# Malamutes that I do. Today I hauled my hubby
(who was my bather extraordinaire in Washington)with me to do the work as I've put in too many six day weeks lately and I'm pooped. Thunder and Viv are a LOT of work, by the end you are covered in hair with water dripping off your soaking wet clothes completely exhausted, no way I was doing them on my day off. Anyway Thunder now knows what is in store when I pull in. He starts woo wooing me the second I'm out of the van. Please, no I don't want a bath today Miss Julie. Nooo, noooo, nooo bath. I got to enjoy the beautiful view from the deck while hubby slaved away
Rocco, is my Dog of the Day! Fun stuff today. Ever wonder what it means when you read I de-shed a dog? Well here it is. This was at the end, I had already removed a TON more hair. Don't try this at home, unless you just use the rubber curry. Carding knives, are best left in the hands of a professional. The instruments I use all depend on the type of coat. Don't worry, I wasn't hurting or pinching him when I was holding his skin, just keeping it taut so the knife could work without hurting him. You can see he wasn't in any distress. De-sheds are always included with bath dogs.
Hooray for Golden Retrievers! Shayni is my Dog of the Day. Instead of a picture we have video of Shayni sleeping during the blow drying process. How darling is that?!
Just for fun a short video of my husband blowing out a double coated dog. Don't worry, doggie has cotton balls in her ears to help with the noise.
