The registration fee is 10000ugx and we advise to buy a training book for 30000 ugx

Today we had our 2. Training about chicken rearing. We talked about management systems and causes & remedy’s of feather picking and cannibalism. I liked it.

Our next training session about chicken rearing will start on Wednesday 16th September 2020 and will continue for the next five consecutive Wednesday’s. The trainings are hold on the Muhabura Chicken House compound in Kisoro from 2,30 pm to 5 pm.

The topics will be:

Types of chicken
Chicken management systems
Chicken Houses & Equipment
Feed & Feeding
Chicken health & Hygiene

Note: We shall observe the SOP s of the existing pandemic. Due to that, the number of participants is limited to 15.
Registration is therefore required.

Some information about Moulting
Moulting is a natural process in chickens to renew their plumage (before the cold season). This process is triggered by hormones that are closely related to the available daylight length. The natural moult lasts up to four months. The change of feathers takes place in the following order: head-neck-breast-back-belly-wing-tail. In the tropics, the moulting is delayed by the constant lengths of daylight. Moulting can be artificially triggered by water deprivation, food deprivation, or light deprivation. The laying activity is stopped during the moult. Comb, wattles and the o***y are reduced in the moult. pigments are stored in the beak and feet. The chicken is recovering in the moult, after the moult it has a higher egg production for a short time with increasing weight and better shell stability. It is important that the hens can fill their calcium deposits in the bones during the moult.
