The Mini Zoo Jinja has been in operation since 2010, aiming to rehabilitate animals captured by trappers, trafficked by poachers out of the country, or injured by boats along the Nile.

Male ostriches are the main egg-watchers. They sit on the eggs at night to keep them warm. During the day, the female ostriches take their turn. They turn the eggs up to several times an hour with their beaks, ensuring each egg receives an equal warmth.

What you need to know about a forest Cobra🐍🐍?

Scientific Name: The forest cobra is scientifically known as Naja melanoleuca.

Venom: Forest cobras possess potent neurotoxic venom that can cause paralysis and respiratory failure in their prey. They are considered one of Africa's most dangerous snakes.

Diet: They primarily feed on small mammals like rodents, birds, and amphibians. As opportunistic hunters, they may also consume other snakes, lizards, and even fish.
Behavior: Forest cobras are mainly active during the day (diurnal) and are excellent climbers. They are known for their speed and agility, especially when threatened.

Interaction with Humans: Forest cobras are shy and elusive snakes that prefer to avoid human contact. However, if cornered or threatened, they can become defensive and may strike if provoked. It's important to give them space and avoid confrontation in their natural habitat.
