Lion family cubs “play chase” for a serious reason, it’s stealth and timing practice, so they learn how to stalk, pounce, and grab without burning too much energy.
Lionesses often let cubs win on purpose, then gently correct them with a paw tap when a bite is too rough.
Cubs also use different calls just for family, including a tiny “mew” to ask mom for help and a soft “hum” while they’re content.
After the game, the whole pride rubs faces and bumps heads , those cuddly greetings are actually scent sharing, so everyone smells like “one team.”
