For years, ear tipping anesthetized free-roaming animals after sterilization has been the standard way to show they’ve been “fixed”. But what if we could make permanent marking painless, mess-free, and instant, using a tool that works even for unanesthetized animals?

That is the breakthrough ACC&D is working on with Georgia Institute of Technology. We are making a tattoo system that is painless, instant, and inexpensive, and which can be used when ear tipping is not practical. Not only will this help field workers identify non-surgically sterilized animals, but we also hope to make post-surgery sterilization tattoos in private clinics significantly easier and more common, sparing unnecessary surgery for already sterilized pets who end up lost or in a shelter.
