At every consultation, our vets perform what is referred to in Veterinary medicine as a ‘full nose-to-tail check up’. We take the time to carefully examine every detail, from your pet’s heartbeat to their whiskers.

At each visit, we:

• Listen to heart and lungs 🫀
• Check eyes, ears, and teeth 👀👂🦷
• Examine skin, coat, and body condition 🐾
• Monitor weight and nutrition 🍽️
• Talk about behaviour and daily habits 💬

We want every pet to feel comfortable during their visit, so if your companion needs any special adjustments to help their check-up go smoothly, we’re always happy to accommodate.

This little fighter is recovering with the help of a urinary catheter, a critical tool in veterinary medicine. The yellow fluid you see in the bag is urine that is being drained from the bladder, helping us monitor kidney function, hydration, infection and giving us crucial insight into our patient’s recovery. 🐾

Urinary catheters are used when:
🔹 A patient cannot urinate on their own
🔹 There’s an obstruction (like crystals or stones)
🔹 There’s trauma to the urethra
🔹 We need to measure urine output accurately
🔹 Post Urinary Bladder reconstructive surgery (which is the case of this patient)

🚨 Swipe Right for Life-Saving Dog Information!

Dogos Story:

Meet Dogo, our incredible survivor! Dogo, a large barrel-chested breed, faced a life-threatening emergency when he developed gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) as well as splenic torsion in the odd hours of the night. This condition can be fatal within hours, but thanks to his owner’s quick thinking and our team’s immediate response with an emergency midnight surgery, Dogo is now 24 days post-recovery, back to normal at home where he belongs!

GDV happens fast, causing the stomach to twist and cut off blood flow. In Dogo’s case, his spleen was also twisted, preventing splanchnic supply and had to be removed in a splenectomy to save his life. We’re beyond proud of Dogo, his owner and our team for acting quickly. He’s alive and well today because of it!

Stay alert for signs of GDV, especially in large breeds like Dogo!
