🎓🐾 Proud Moment Alert!

On October 9th 2025, we celebrated our very own Dr. Yohana Winston, who successfully completed the Frontline In-Service Applied Veterinary Epidemiology Training (ISAVET), a one-month accelerated program under the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).

This national program strengthens the capacity of veterinarians to detect, respond to, and prevent animal and zoonotic diseases, protecting both animal and human lives.

Among many challenges, the course required participants to collect, compile, and analyze real clinical data as part of their study and present their findings before national experts, one of the many rigorous components that tested their commitment and expertise.

The graduation was graced by esteemed leaders including Dr. Edwin, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries; Dr. Benezeth Malinda Lutege, Director of Veterinary Services Tanzania; Dr. Amani Kilemile, Registrar of the Veterinary Council of Tanzania; Dr. Stella Kaimbi, FAO Representative; and Dr. Asha Zanharan, Director of Veterinary Services Zanzibar.

Among 30 participants, we couldn’t be prouder to see one of our own shine among the country’s best. 🌍💉🐶🐱

This achievement reflects the heart of what we stand for at Pet Care House, continuous learning, dedication, and excellence in animal health care.

Congratulations, Dr. Yohana, your dedication continues to raise the bar for veterinary excellence!

At every consultation, our vets perform what is referred to in Veterinary medicine as a ‘full nose-to-tail check up’. We take the time to carefully examine every detail, from your pet’s heartbeat to their whiskers.

At each visit, we:

• Listen to heart and lungs 🫀
• Check eyes, ears, and teeth 👀👂🦷
• Examine skin, coat, and body condition 🐾
• Monitor weight and nutrition 🍽️
• Talk about behaviour and daily habits 💬

We want every pet to feel comfortable during their visit, so if your companion needs any special adjustments to help their check-up go smoothly, we’re always happy to accommodate.

This post is dedicated to Dolby, who arrived with confidence, charm, and the cutest bow tie.

This little fighter is recovering with the help of a urinary catheter, a critical tool in veterinary medicine. The yellow fluid you see in the bag is urine that is being drained from the bladder, helping us monitor kidney function, hydration, infection and giving us crucial insight into our patient’s recovery. 🐾

Urinary catheters are used when:
🔹 A patient cannot urinate on their own
🔹 There’s an obstruction (like crystals or stones)
🔹 There’s trauma to the urethra
🔹 We need to measure urine output accurately
🔹 Post Urinary Bladder reconstructive surgery (which is the case of this patient)

💛 Every detail matters when it comes to patient care, even what’s in the bag.
