Every Living Thing (ELT) works to improve the lives of animals in Tanzania, East Africa. We are an Animal Sanctuary located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

As Tanzania is a developing nation there are many needs and, sadly, all too often animals needs get left behind. This is something we aim to help improve. Opening times: Mon-Sat 12-3pm BY APPOINTMENT

We are a working shelter and may not always be able to receive visitors. Please call to make an appointment in advance. The "ELT Centre" in Dar Es Salaam is the base of our rescue, rehabilitation a

nd rehoming programs. From here we also run our education, community outreach and population control initiatives. Should you be interested in visiting the ELT Centre to become part of our rehoming programme by adopting an animal please contact us to arrange an appointment.

We’re Moving & Need Your Help: Throughout the last five years, we’ve loved every moment at our current location on the peninsula. It’s been a place of healing, love, and wagging tails.

We’ve poured our hearts into creating a space that’s more than just a shelter - it's a sanctuary. No cages, no concrete. Just happy dogs and curious cats living openly, freely, and surrounded by people who love them like family.

But as Dar es Salaam grows and development moves in around us, it’s time for us to move too.

Yes… we’re a little stressed. Change isn’t easy.
But we believe it can be beautiful. Especially with the help of the community who believes in us.

Did you know we opened our doors in 2016? That means we’re coming up on 10 years of rescuing and caring for animals in Dar es Salaam! Thousands of animals have passed through our care, each with their own story and journey to a brighter future.

A huge shoutout to our amazing team, who have devoted themselves around the clock, seven days a week, 24 hours a day for almost a decade.

To them, this isn’t a job - their mission is to ensure every new rescue knows they are safe, their past is behind them, and only love lies ahead. They don’t just care for the animals—they build true friendships with them, earning their trust through kindness, patience, and endless compassion.

We are incredibly grateful for the community behind us—Every kind gesture, no matter how big or small, has made a difference and helped get us to where we are today. Thank you for helping us create a brighter future for so many animals!
