🐾 Kids Can Help Stop Rabies! 🧒🐕

Children are often the closest companions to animals — feeding them, playing with them, and sometimes even being the first to notice when something is wrong. That’s why kids play a powerful role in rabies prevention.

Through education and awareness, we can empower young minds to speak up, report bites, and remind their families about the importance of vaccination and responsible pet care.

Rabies prevention starts at home — and kids are part of the solution.

In Tanzania’s Monduli District, real change for donkey welfare is being led by the most unexpected heroes, the school children.

Meet Happiness Leboi and Julius Saning’o, two bright stars from Losingran Primary School's Animal Welfare Club in Meserani ward. Since 2021, they’ve been standing up for donkeys and inspiring their entire community.

Happiness joined the club at just 9 years old. Now in Class Seven, she's been a powerful voice for rabies vaccination and planting trees for shade and sustenance.
🗣️ “I remember how donkeys were mistreated... it’s not like that now,” she says.

Julius, who joined a year later, became a fierce advocate for proper harnessing. He once witnessed a donkey bleeding from an ox-yoke. He pleaded with the owner to stop and was dismissed. But Julius didn’t give up.

“That man who dismissed me later changed “He told me, ‘Since you asked me, something entered my heart,” Julius proudly shares.

These young voices remind us that change starts early with courage, compassion, and the right support.

👏 Huge thanks to Brooke East Africa for making this journey possible from field visits to learning materials that turn children into changemakers.

Together, we’re shaping a future where donkeys and other animals are treated with kindness, and youth lead the way to a more humane world. 🐴

This Monday, we couldn’t resist sharing this stunning close-up of a donkey peacefully grazing.

With its soft grey and brown speckled coat, expressive dark eyes, and signature upright ears, this beautiful donkey reminds us of the quiet strength and resilience these animals carry into every new week.

Here’s to a gentle start and purposeful progress, just like our donkeys.

That time of the week has arrived — it’s !

This little one is learning the ropes from mama, under the watchful eye of a caring owner.

Every foal deserves to grow up safe, loved, and free from suffering. Let’s build a world where that’s not a wish, but a guarantee. 💛🐴

It's .

We advocate for a reality where peace means no pain, no beatings, and no burden for donkeys.

They deserve lives of comfort, safety, and a future free from suffering.

The scene at Oldonyosambu Market inspires us to champion this change.

This donkey is like, “I carry your world, just give me a little care in return.”

Let’s speak up for working animals. Their strength supports communities, but they deserve kindness, rest, and protection. 💛

What does a responsible future look like?

It starts with small acts of kindness — like this young star showing love and compassion to our furry friends. 🌟💚

Teaching children about animal welfare isn’t just important, it’s transformative. Today’s kindness becomes tomorrow’s responsibility. 🐾

Let’s raise a generation that cares.

May this sacred occasion bring renewed faith, unity, and compassion to our hearts and communities.

As we celebrate the spirit of sacrifice, let us also remember the importance of kindness to one another and to the animals that serve us with strength and loyalty daily.

Eid Mubarak from the ASPA family! 🐴🌙

| A heartbreaking case from Lengijave

During our recent mobile donkey clinic with our partner Network for Animals (NFA), we encountered a 3-month-old foal suffering from an untreated open fracture, sustained in a motorcycle accident four weeks earlier.

Despite our vet's recommendation for humane euthanasia due to extreme pain and severe infection, the owner, guided by deep-rooted cultural beliefs, refused consent. In Tanzania, euthanasia cannot proceed without the owner's approval.

💉 Our team administered temporary pain relief and handed over monitoring to the local Animal Health Officer, with hope for further dialogue.

This tragic case reminds us of the importance of community education, access to early treatment, and culturally sensitive advocacy.

📍Let’s stand for the voiceless.
