這些結果證實貓咪會產生強烈的壓力反應。
值得注意的是,有 60% 的貓咪在入院後短時間內出現壓力性高血糖,而血糖水平通常需在經過一段適應時間後才會恢復正常。
研究指出,讓貓咪血糖恢復正常的最佳適應時間約為 6 小時,這顯示在解讀診斷數據時,「時間點」具有重要影響。
此外,壓力也與以下變化有關:
• 膽汁酸變化
• 皮質醇、血糖與行為壓力指標之間呈現中度相關
這些發現強調,壓力可能模擬或掩蓋疾病,特別是在懷疑糖尿病等情況下,若未將壓力因素納入考量,可能導致實驗室結果被誤判。
本研究指出,讓貓咪有足夠時間適應臨床環境,對於提升診斷準確性與改善病患管理至關重要。

Stress during veterinary visits can significantly influence diagnostic results in cats. A recent study published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (Koomgun et al., 2025) evaluated how hospitalisation affects physiological, behavioural, and metabolic parameters in healthy cats.
During hospital visits, cats showed marked increases in blood glucose, cortisol, heart rate, respiratory rate, and Cat Stress Score (CSS), confirming a strong stress response. Notably, 60% of cats developed stress-induced hyperglycaemia shortly after admission, with glucose levels normalising only after an acclimatisation period.
The study identified an optimal acclimatisation time of approximately 6 hours for cats to return to normal glucose levels, highlighting the importance of timing when interpreting diagnostic tests. Stress was also associated with changes in bile acids and a moderate correlation between cortisol, glucose, and behavioural stress indicators.
These findings emphasise that stress can mimic or mask disease, particularly in cases such as suspected diabetes mellitus, and may lead to misinterpretation of laboratory results if not considered.
This study underlines the importance of allowing cats sufficient time to adapt to the clinical environment to ensure more accurate diagnosis and better patient management.
