Update re the meeting tonight - the meeting at mid centre was good mr Lumkin owner of barking dogs acted as an adviser to the group and educated us about the last time this act was to be given life and what was done to put a stop to it he indicated that we as pet owners will have to work harder this time if we would like to see a change in our pets futures. Several other persons spoke re what we think can be done and we all agreed that as is this act is no good to anyone. A meeting will be held on Sunday 22nd April 2012 at the queens park savannah across from TGIF from 1pm till 4pm all pet owners are invited anyone who thinks this act is unfair is asked to attend NO DOGS will be at this meeting and all persons attending are asked to wear white - a media representative was on site and some interviews were done this should be aired on the morning news - the act would cause registered breeders to go out of business immediately trainers to loose income or livelihood importers of dog food and other products an extreme drop in business and the pet owner who cannot afford the new fees a loss of a family member since that is how most perceive their pets to be. also the last time this act was nearly given life dogs were dumped all over rural areas etc again with an estimated 800 000 thousand dogs as pets and an estimated 400 000 thousand being pitbull or pitbull type this is a lot of people being affected the act only has 3 dogs on the list so far your dog may be next so this isnt a fight for only pitbull owners it will affect all of us in some form or fashion crime was also discussed as a lot of persons feel safe with having their dogs which form an natural deterrent against thieves will the government protect the citizenry from crime the fact is that if trinidad and tobago has appox 400 000 thousand pitbull or pitbull type dogs should we not be in a worse off situation - members of this forum and others lets work together to save our breed and preserve our rights how many persons die from bullets car accidents assault - let your voice be heard stand up for your rights Trinidadians
