🐶💚 They didn’t choose to end up at a shelter. But hopefully, someone will choose them.

These little faces are some of the puppies currently in our care, and they’re all hoping to find families of their own.

We’ve been incredibly lucky to have volunteers open their homes and foster some of them, giving them a chance to experience life in a real home while they wait. And of course, we’re secretly hoping for a foster failure or two. 🤭❤️

There are still so many misconceptions about adopting from a shelter. But rescue puppies are just puppies. They’re playful, curious, sometimes a little naughty, and ready to become someone’s best friend. They deserve the same chance at a happy life as any puppy bought from a shop or breeder.

So if you’re thinking about adding a dog to your family, please consider adoption first. You’re not just getting a dog. You’re giving one a home and making space for us to help the next one who needs us. 🏡🐾

🎃🐶 Meet Dumbo, our little Halloween superstar!

We had some very ambitious plans and plenty of costumes ready for our dogs and cats… unfortunately, almost everyone politely declined to participate. 😂

Our brave little guy happily transformed from the cutest lion on Samui 🦁 to a tiny pirate 🏴‍☠️ and somehow managed to look adorable in both.

🐾 A little medical update on Weasley 💚

Weasley was one of the 11 puppies recently left outside our shelter. Since then, two amazing groups of volunteers have helped foster her, and she is currently living with our volunteer Beth.

A few days ago, Beth noticed a worrying lump on Weasley’s throat. We took her to the vet right away, where they found an infection. Unfortunately, because of the location of the lump, they couldn’t safely take a sample to determine exactly what was causing it.

Weasley was started on medication, but two days later the swelling had become much worse and she had to return to the clinic to have it drained. She is now back with Beth, who is doing an amazing job looking after her and keeping a close eye on her recovery. ❤️‍🩹

We’ll continue to monitor our little patient and hope the treatment does its job. Once she is healthy again, the next chapter will be finding Weasley the loving forever home she deserves. 🐶💚

Every day, our kitchen cooks fresh rice and chicken for our 400+ dogs. Yesterday, though, we got to make their daily meal a little extra special. 💚🐾

Exactly one year ago, one of our supporters lost his beloved dog Troy. To honor his memory, he added something special to our usual daily cooking.

Along with their regular food, we prepared 540 eggs and some extra special ingredients for our dogs. 🥚🍗

And judging by the empty bowls, they definitely enjoyed the upgrade. ❤️

They may not know why yesterday’s meal was a little more special than usual, but we do.

🐶 What does it take to prepare lunch for 400+ rescue dogs?

Every single day at our shelter on Koh Samui, we cook rice and chicken for more than 400 dogs. But yesterday’s meal was a little different. 💚

One of our supporters lost his beloved dog Troy exactly one year ago. To honor his memory, he wanted to do something special for our dogs.

So yesterday, our kitchen prepared a very special meal: 540 eggs, 40 kg of chicken, rice and a few extra special ingredients for 400+ very excited customers. 🥚🍗🐾

As you can see, they absolutely loved it. They may not know why yesterday’s lunch was so special, but we do.

This one was for you, Troy. ❤️

🛁🐶 Our new dog wash station is officially open, and Arcane was the first to test it!

With hundreds of dogs in our care, even something as simple as giving them a proper bath can be a challenge. This new station might not look like a huge change, but for our dogs and the people caring for them every day, it really is. 💚

Arkane was our very first customer and, judging by the video, we think he approves. 😂🐾 Having a safe, comfortable place to wash our dogs makes bath time easier for everyone and gives our animals a little bit of the care and attention they deserve.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Anipura pure pet care 🌿 for continuously supporting our shelter with free dog shampoo. With this many furry residents, we go through quite a lot of it! 🫧

Little improvements and support from our community like this make a huge difference to everyday life at the shelter. Thank you. 💚🙏

🐾 SAMUI IS LOOKING FOR HER SECOND CHANCE 💚

Samui grew up on the streets of Chaweng before she was adopted and supposed to start a new life abroad. Sadly, her adoption fell through, and she spent the next few months separated from the other dogs, waiting for a journey that never happened.

With a little patience and the help of our volunteers, we eventually introduced her to our large front compound. And since then, Samui has become a real visitor favorite. 🥰

She’s beautiful, calm and incredibly gentle with people. She knows how to set her boundaries with the other dogs, but with humans she is an absolute sweetheart. And if you’re lucky, she’ll even give you her paw to say hello. 🐾

Samui already thought she had found her home once. We would love to see her finally get the second chance she deserves. 💚

🚨 MISSING DOG – PLEASE HELP US FIND LOLA 🚨

We are looking for Lola, an older female dog who has gone missing in the area around Dog and Cat Rescue Samui.

We are very concerned about her safety. Lola is an older, timid dog and may have problems with her eyesight. She may be frightened and hiding somewhere rather than approaching people.

We have contacted local street-dog feeders and people who know the dogs in the surrounding areas, and they are also keeping an eye out for her.

Please share this post, especially if you live or work around Ban Taling Ngam.

• Please do not chase her or frighten her.
• Send us a location pin immediately so we know exactly where she was spotted.
• If possible, take a photo or video so we can confirm it is her.
• If you can safely do so, please stay nearby and keep an eye on her from a distance until someone from the shelter arrives. This could make a huge difference in helping us locate her.

Even the smallest piece of information could help us find Lola and get her somewhere safe.

We heard them before we saw them.

Crying from two plastic crates sitting in the sun on the side of the road.

Inside were 11 tiny puppies, only around 4–6 weeks old. Someone had left them about 20 meters down the road from our driveway, completely out of sight from the shelter, and simply disappeared. 💔

We immediately got them out of the sun and into the care of our vet team. Thankfully, their parvo tests were negative, but taking in 11 puppies at once means suddenly finding space, food and medical care for an entire litter.

And puppies are expensive to care for. The food they need currently costs us around 3–4 times as much as feeding our adult dogs. As they grow, they will eat more, and they will also need vaccinations, deworming, medical care and eventually spaying and neutering.

Our shelter is funded entirely by donations, so we started a GoFundMe to help us give them everything they need.

And now for the good news. ❤️

Three of the 11 puppies have already found homes.

The other eight are safe with us in our puppy house, with full bellies and people looking after them. We hope we can eventually say the same for every single one.

The money raised will help us care for these puppies and, if we raise more than they need, support the care of the other animals at our shelter and our ongoing spay and neuter work for local dogs and cats.

Every week, our team spays and neuters around 50 animals. It is one of the most important things we can do to prevent unwanted litters and hopefully stop more puppies from ending up on the side of the road like these 11 did.

A few days ago, they were crying in two crates in the sun.

Today, three have homes and eight are safe with us.

Please help us take care of them, and prevent the next unwanted litter. ❤️
