อาการ "แมวไม่ยอมกินข้าว" อาจไม่ได้แปลว่าน้องเบื่ออาหารเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่อาจเป็นเพราะน้องกำลัง "เจ็บปาก" จนกินไม่ไหว 🩺

วันนี้มีเคสของ "น้อง Nyx" น้องแมวพันธุ์ European Shorthair อายุ 13 ปี ที่เข้ามาพบคุณหมอด้วยอาการไม่ยอมกินอาหาร

🔍 สาเหตุมาจาก: หินปูนหนา = ต้นเหตุเหงือกอักเสบ

การให้เลือดในสัตว์เลี้ยง ไม่ได้มีไว้แค่ตอนผ่าตัดเท่านั้นนะคะ แต่คือ "การรักษาฉุกเฉิน" เพื่อช่วยชีวิตจากสถานการณ์วิกฤต เช่น:

"น้องนินจา" มาพบคุณหมอด้วยอาการที่น่าตกใจ

โรคนี้เกิดจากลิ่มเลือดที่ก่อตัวผิดปกติในหัวใจ แล้วหลุดลอยไปตามกระแสเลือดจนไป "อุดตัน" ที่หลอดเลือดแดงใหญ่ จุดที่พบบ่อยที่สุดคือบริเวณเส้นเลือดที่จะไปเลี้ยงขาหลัง เมื่อเลือดไปเลี้ยงไม่ได้ เนื้อเยื่อจึงขาดออกซิเจน ทำให้น้องแมวเจ็บปวดรุนแรงและเดินไม่ได้ทันที

Sudden Paralysis in Cats… The Hidden Danger of "Heart Disease"
"Nong Ninja" was rushed to the vet with alarming symptoms:

Sudden paralysis of the hind legs.
Ice-cold paws.
Constant crying in extreme pain.

After a thorough physical exam and a heart ultrasound (Echocardiogram), the vet found the culprit: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). This condition caused a blood clot to form and eventually break loose, blocking the main artery supplying the hind legs.

This life-threatening emergency is known as FATE (Feline Aortic Thromboembolism), or more commonly, "Saddle Thrombus."

🩺 What is FATE? Why does it cause paralysis?
This condition occurs when a blood clot forms abnormally within the heart. The clot then travels through the bloodstream until it becomes "lodged" in the aorta—most commonly at the junction where it splits to supply the hind legs. When blood flow is cut off, the tissues are deprived of oxygen, causing excruciating pain and immediate loss of leg function.

🚨 : Emergency signs to watch for:
Crying in Pain: Loud, distressed vocalization and extreme restlessness.
Sudden Paralysis: Sudden weakness in the hind legs or dragging the legs behind.
No Pulse: Inability to feel a pulse in the hind limbs.
Cold Paws: Paw pads feel significantly colder than the rest of the body and may turn pale or bluish-purple.

🏥 Treatment
While FATE is a critical, life-threatening condition, rapid medical intervention is the key to survival:

Critical Care: Oxygen support, high-level pain management, and 24-hour intensive monitoring.
Clot Management: Using anticoagulant and antiplatelet medications to prevent further clotting and help restore circulation.
Recovery Outlook: Cats that survive the first 24–48 hour critical window and receive timely treatment have a chance to recover leg function and walk again.

หลายคนชอบคิดว่า "แมวฉันยังเด็ก" หรือ "แมวฉันก็ดูร่าเริงดี" ไม่น่าจะเป็นโรคหัวใจหรอก... แต่ในความเป็นจริง โรคหัวใจในแมวแตกต่างจากคน และสุนัข เพราะน้องแมวมักไม่แสดงอาหารจนกว่าอาการจะเข้าสู่ระยะอันตราย

วันนี้ "น้องฟีฟ่า" มาเช็กอัปหัวใจให้ชัวร์ เพราะการตรวจคัดกรองคือ วิธีเดียวที่จะบอกเราได้ว่า หัวใจของเขายังทำงานปกติดีอยู่ไหม ✨
