The Lion Clinic
เรารับฟังแมวก่อนเสมอ

อ่อนโยนเสมอ
ให้เกียรติเสมอ

Really proud moment 🥹✨

One of my longitudinal case reports has just been published in the ACPAT FourFront Journal!

This little star is Toni 🐶 — a puppy born with pectus excavatum, supported through early physiotherapy, splinting, positioning and lots of teamwork. Watching her grow, strengthen and thrive has been incredibly rewarding.

This case is such a good reminder of why ACPAT physiotherapists do far more than “just treat muscles”. My human physio background played a huge role in how this case was assessed and managed — looking at posture, breathing, development and function as a whole.

Early intervention + collaboration really can change outcomes 💛

If you’d like to read the full article, just pop me a message and I’ll send it over 📖✨

I’m super proud to share that one of my case study articles has just been published in the ACPAT FourFront Journal 😊

This case followed Toni, a puppy born with pectus excavatum, and documents her journey through early physiotherapy, splinting, positioning and careful monitoring — all managed conservatively with great teamwork between vet, breeder and physio.

A lot of the assessment and treatment decisions came directly from my human physiotherapy background, which really highlights why ACPAT-trained physios bring such a broad skill set to animal practice. We’re not just looking at muscles — we’re considering posture, breathing, development, neurology and function together.

It was a brilliant example of how early support and the right guidance can make a real difference. Charlotte Barton Cedar Vets

Cold, ice & snow – should dogs still be exercised?

Yes… but how matters, especially for older dogs and those with arthritis.
Not every dog needs a coat.
Just like us going out for a run in the cold, an active dog moving well generates plenty of heat. Breed, coat type, size, age and how much they actually move on a walk all make a difference.
An elderly or arthritic dog who walks more slowly, stops often, or stiffens up will cool down far more quickly – and that’s where extra support can help.
A few winter reminders:
• Cold weather can increase joint stiffness
• Gentle, steady movement is usually better than long or fast walks
• Ice increases the risk of slips and muscle strains
• Missing a walk is better than weeks of recovery
Coats can help dogs who are older, arthritic, slow-moving, lean, or have thin coats – mainly to stop them getting cold rather than to “overheat-proof” a walk.
What happens after the walk matters just as much
Wet + cold + stiff joints is a bad combination.
Dry them well, avoid cold floors, and let them warm up properly indoors.
Winter exercise isn’t about wrapping every dog up or avoiding movement altogether – it’s about matching the walk to the dog in front of you and supporting comfort and recovery.
Small changes can make a big difference.

✨ 2025 at The Lion Clinic: Care at Home, Collaboration & Quiet Progress ✨

As the year draws to a close, I want to acknowledge all the pets and people I’ve worked with throughout 2025. Every patient this year has been treated in their own home — in the spaces where they feel calmest and move most naturally. This has allowed truly tailored rehabilitation for each animal, from playful youngsters to much-loved seniors.

This year has included:
🐾 Mobility and pain management for older dogs and cats
🐾 Post-surgical and neurological rehabilitation
🐾 Support for working dogs maintaining strength and function
🐾 Behaviour-sensitive animals who settle best at home
🐾 Joint work with charities and rescue organisations
🐾 Splinting, including carpal supports
🐾 Early intervention and management for pectus excavatum

It’s been a year of real collaboration too.
A sincere thank you to my ACPAT veterinary physiotherapy colleagues for the shared CPD, case discussions, problem-solving, and joint treatments. Working alongside such knowledgeable, skilled professionals has been invaluable and a real highlight of the year.

Thank you also to:
💛 Local vets and referral hospitals
💛 Specialist teams
💛 Behaviourists
💛 Charities and rescue groups
💛 And, of course, the dedicated owners who put the daily work in

Your teamwork and trust ensure each animal receives the very best care.

Wishing all my patients, colleagues and supporters a comfortable, active and happy 2026.
Here’s to another year of helping pets feel their best — right at home.

“HYROX isn’t just a race for me… it’s part of my life.

I train every day — strength, running, conditioning — not because I have to, but because it’s changed me.
Raised my confidence. Boosted my energy. Made me stronger in every way.

Between running my physiotherapy business — The Lion Clinic — helping dogs move better, supporting my two teenage boys in swimming, rugby, and football…
…plus five dogs, two cats, and a very patient husband…

HYROX is the thing that grounds me.
It’s my reset.
My challenge.
My proof that you can do hard things — even with a full, chaotic life.

Stronger every day.
This is my HYROX journey.”

🎄✨ Merry Christmas from The Lion Clinic! ✨🦁

Thank you all for your support throughout 2025 — it’s been a privilege helping your pets stay comfortable, mobile, and thriving. ❤️

I’ll be taking a two-week family break over the Christmas period, and the clinic will be closed during this time. I will still be checking emails intermittently so if any concerns , questions I will reply but just might not be immediate

Wishing you and your four-legged friends a peaceful, joyful festive season.
See you in 2026! 🎉🐾

HYROX London Excel what a weekend. 💥

Three races in one weekend — doubles, singles, relay — and a huge reminder of what teamwork, grit, and good people around you can do. Also squeezed in an 8 hour wall ball judge shift. Love being on wall balls cheering and supporting

👯‍♀️ Started with Women’s Doubles with my friend Zoe
Her first HYROX, and she absolutely dug deep. A gel didn’t sit well (we’ve all been there 😅), so she battled nausea for a big part of the race. That meant adapting on the fly — slower runs, me taking on more of the stations — but we got it done together.
1:20:44.40 and honestly proud of how we handled it. She kept going when many would’ve stopped. ❤️

🧨 36 hours later… Women’s Singles 50–54.
Tired legs and DOMS from the doubles weren’t ideal, but still came away with a 1:20:44 — a 4-minute PB!
Just missed sub-1:20, and I know fresh legs would’ve made the difference… but that’s HYROX. Finished 11th in my AG and hungry for more.

🔁 Ended the weekend with my first relay, racing with my long-time friend Ruth — chaotic, fast, funny, and such a good way to finish.

✨ Massive thank you to for all the incredible support — honestly makes such a difference.
And huge appreciation to and for the recovery zone, the braids, and the physio session — such a game changer having that level of care between races. 🙌

Also grateful for my home base — couldn’t do this without consistent training.

Next stop: HYROX Manchester. Still chasing that sub-1:20… and I’m ready. 🔥

What a brilliant day at London Vet Show 💙🐾

Feeling proud to stand with the ACPAT community — Chartered, human-trained veterinary physiotherapists, representing the gold standard in animal rehabilitation.
Days like today remind me why collaboration matters so much: physios, vets, RVNs, specialists… all working together to give animals the best possible care.

Loved catching up with old colleagues (RVNs & vets) and meeting so many new faces. The conversations, the networking, and the CPD sessions were inspiring — so many exciting developments in our profession. ✨

Grateful for a day full of learning, connection, and fresh ideas to bring back to my patients.
Already looking forward to next year! 🙌
