🐢 When a Tortoise Throws Up… Swipe to see more ..

This Sulcata tortoise came in with vomiting and was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction.
We chose to perform a plastron osteotomy instead of the prefemoral approach, since the exact location and extent of intestinal blockage were unpredictable.

The surgery went smoothly — and we discovered small stones and a plastic bag obstructing the intestine.
Just imagine… if this had been a sea turtle, it might not have survived such suffering.
But today, we were able to save this tortoise’s life. 💚

🩺 Ovarian Cyst in a Sugar Glider 🐾

A female sugar glider presented with abdominal distension and decreased activity. On ultrasound, we discovered an ovarian cyst—a rare but possible condition in gliders.

✨ Treatment?
Surgical removal (ovariohysterectomy) is the best option.

💡 Tip: If your sugar glider shows unusual swelling or lethargy, don’t ignore it—reproductive issues can be serious even in small exotics!

Hypocalcemia in a Bearded Dragon

This beardie came in with muscle tremors and other signs of low calcium.
We gave IV calcium, and the tremors stopped immediately!

What causes hypocalcemia?
• Poor calcium intake
• Improper Ca:P ratio
• Lack of UVB lighting

Left untreated, it can lead to twitching, seizures, soft bones, or even death.

Prevention tips:
• Feed a calcium-rich, balanced diet
• Provide strong UVB lighting
• Schedule regular health checks

Act fast. Treat early. Keep your dragon healthy!

📌 Challenging but Rewarding Case 🐰💉

This rabbit presented with a massive chest mass, making the surgery quite challenging and risky. I’m deeply grateful to the owner for trusting me to handle this case and to Dr. Zoltan for helping me build confidence during the TnT Workshop in Taiwan.

The surgery was successful, and the rabbit recovered impressively fast, thanks to effective pain management using the FLK cocktail before, during, and after the procedure.

Every case is a learning journey, and I’m glad to be part of this one! 😊
