With deep sadness, we share that Matz peacefully passed away on May 19th.He was found to have a very large bladder stone, over 5 cm in size, which sadly led to kidney failure. Despite intensive treatment and everyone’s prayers and support, we were unable to save him.

Matz’s medical expenses totaled approximately 65,000 THB. Of this amount, 37,000 THB was covered through donations from many kind supporters of Green Tails. In addition, K9 Aid generously provided support equivalent to 14,000 THB (approximately 380 USD). Although this donation was originally intended for Matz’s future travel expenses to the United States, with respect and gratitude, we used it to help cover the remaining urgent medical costs during his final days.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to every single person who supported, donated, shared his story, prayed for him, and cared about his life. Matz was truly loved by so many people around the world, and we believe he felt that love until the very end.

Now, Matz can finally rest peacefully. We hope his gentle soul is surrounded by warmth and love, just as he brought love to all of us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of his journey.

The stone-like object shown in the photo above was the massive bladder stone that had been inside Matz’s body.
It was found together with his ashes after cremation.

The veterinarians told us this stone had likely formed over many years.
It may have already been inside him long before we rescued him — possibly even back when he was still living with the family who abandoned him.

In the beginning, he may not have been in pain.
Even recently, Matz was still happily hopping around full of energy.

But over time, the stone gradually began blocking his ability to urinate properly.
Eventually, the urine backed up into his kidneys, causing kidney failure.

Matz was 10 years old.
Thinking about how long he carried something this large inside his small body while still trying so hard to live breaks my heart.

Matz

Matz spent more than 12 hours at the university veterinary hospital undergoing many different tests. The hospital was extremely crowded, and he had to move between multiple sections while waiting for long periods of time. The entire hospital was heavily air-conditioned, and this little boy endured the cold environment throughout the long day of examinations.

The blood test results from the university hospital showed that his kidney condition is very serious. His Creatinine level was 6.61 and BUN (blood urea nitrogen) was 121 — both dangerously high, showing severe kidney dysfunction.

The university hospital recommended 5 days of hospitalization, but all beds were full. Because of this, Matz was urgently transferred to a trusted hospital that can provide 24-hour intensive care.

Right now, Matz is in the ICU under constant monitoring and receiving IV treatment. However, he has become weaker and weaker. He cannot eat on his own, so we are trying to syringe feed him little by little, but sometimes he vomits afterward.

Even during very busy days, I make time to visit Matz every single day. I prepare a soft bed for him, offer him water, and slowly try syringe feeding. It takes time, but he still tries.

Currently, his urine is dark red with blood, and the amount has dropped to about one-third of normal. Whether his urine output improves tonight will be one of the most important signs we are watching closely.

Please continue supporting Matz’s treatment and keep this tiny warrior in your prayers. 🐾🚨

MATZ’s condition has become very serious.

To be honest, there are some aspects of the current veterinary care that I am not fully comfortable with, so we have decided to urgently transfer his case to Kasetsart University Veterinary Hospital. This was originally where his surgery was planned to take place.

Over the past few days, Matz has barely been able to eat, and the blood in his urine has become much worse. We believe the giant bladder stone may be causing internal bleeding.

We are also very worried about the stones in his kidneys. His liver and kidney values are continuing to worsen, and his condition is becoming increasingly critical.

We urgently obtained Matz’s medical records.

Therefore, we sincerely ask for your continued support.

We will leave for the hospital today at 7 AM.

Please keep praying for Matz and send him your love and strength.

Matz’s latest blood test shows some encouraging improvement.

His pancreatic lipase level, which indicates pancreatitis, has decreased significantly from 1372 U/L to 593 U/L. This suggests that the medication and treatment are helping reduce the inflammation, although the value is still above normal and needs continued monitoring.

However, a new serious concern has appeared.

His liver and gallbladder-related values have suddenly increased sharply compared to the previous blood test. The veterinarians are now concerned about possible liver dysfunction, gallbladder inflammation, sludge, or gallstones, and these abnormal values are currently preventing surgery.

Because of this, Matz will need continued medication and treatment over the next 1 week to 1 month in hopes that the values improve enough for surgery to become possible.

Matz is also having more difficulty urinating due to the very large bladder stone (over 5 cm). Depending on his body position, the stone may partially block the urinary flow. Normally, his urine output should be around 50 cc per hour, but recently it has dropped to around 25 cc per hour, meaning the urine flow speed has decreased significantly.

Thankfully, urine is still passing, which means it is not considered a complete blockage or emergency at this moment. We will continue fluid therapy, encourage high water intake, and monitor him very closely until the next appointment around the 18th unless his condition suddenly worsens.

Matz, keep fighting. ❤️

Pippa was abandoned twice in Thailand and left with nowhere to go.
Since the day she looked at us with those anxious eyes, we have shared so much time together.

And now, in early April, Pippa’s dream finally came true.

She crossed the Dover Strait by ferry from France and safely arrived in the UK 🇫🇷🛥️🇬🇧
At first, she was welcomed as a foster dog, but she has now officially been adopted and accepted as part of a loving family 🐶✨

She is no longer “a dog with nowhere to belong.”
Now, she has a place to call home, and a family who truly loves her.

Every time we send one of our dogs off to a new life, happiness and sadness come together at the same time.
But rescue is not only about saving lives.
It is about connecting each dog to a home where they can finally sleep peacefully and feel safe forever.
That is the true meaning of why we continue this journey.

Green Tails is also a forever home for dogs who have nowhere else to go.
But this experience reminded us once again that no matter their age or past, finding the right family for each dog is the greatest happiness for them — and for us too.

Even dogs who were once thought to have “no future” can have their whole lives transformed through love and a chance to belong.

We pray that Pippa’s future will be filled with kindness, love, and happiness.
May she never experience abandonment again, and instead spend the rest of her life being spoiled, cherished, and deeply loved.

Thank you so much to everyone who supported her journey.
Because of your kindness and support, Pippa was able to make it this far.

And a very special thank you to:

Her new mom, Lynn-Marguerite 💛
And adoption coordinator
Animal Adoption International✨
for helping make this beautiful new chapter possible.

We are watching over you from far away in Thailand 🫶🏻🇹🇭

Be happy forever, Pip❤️🇬🇧

Matz was rushed to the vet today. The reason was that, over a period of about 6 hours since around noon, his urine output dropped dramatically — normally he produces about 50cc per hour, but today it was only 100cc total.

He also vomited his food, which raised concerns that his kidneys might be having problems, so we went to the emergency vet immediately.

Thankfully, it appears the issue was caused by a problem with the catheter, which prevented him from urinating properly. A large amount of urine had remained trapped in his bladder. We are very relieved that his blood test results showed no kidney abnormalities.

His urine is now draining properly again through the catheter, and the veterinary team will continue checking him every 2 hours overnight. If everything remains stable, we will return on the 11th for the blood test that was already scheduled.

If his spleen-related values have improved by then, we will move forward with scheduling his surgery to remove the kidney & bladder stones. #

Spa day for Gizmo 🫧🤍
Today was his special medical shampoo day for his sensitive allergic skin.
He always feels so much better after a gentle bath, warm towel time, and lots of cuddles.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for helping our sweet senior boy stay comfortable in this Thailand heat ☀️🐶
Gizmo may be old, but he still melts everyone’s heart every single day.

Matz is fighting for his life. (Jp scrolling ⬇️)

What was thought to be a tumor is actually a very large bladder stone (over 5 cm), along with many smaller stones affecting his kidney. One kidney is already damaged and he is likely in pain.

The surgery is possible, but not yet.
His kidney values improved, but his pancreatic levels suddenly spiked (over 2000), so surgery must wait until it drops below 1000.

After 3 days of intensive care, he is now back home and continuing treatment under close veterinary supervision.

Matz has not given up on his chance to go to the US.
We want to give him that chance.

So far, we have received 16,000 THB in donations, helping cover 33,000 THB of medical costs. We are truly grateful.

Please help us save Matz.
He needs your support for this life-saving surgery.

Matz

Matz
