The Veterinary Practitioner Association of Thailand (VPAT) is pleased to invite researchers, clinicians, academics, and professionals in the veterinary field to submit abstracts for presentation at the 18th VPAT Regional Veterinary Congress (VRVC 2026) — one of Southeast Asia’s premier veterinary science events.

🗓 Submission Deadline: March 15, 2026
We welcome high-quality submissions in all areas of veterinary medicine, including but not limited to:
• Small animal medicine
• Surgery and diagnostics
• Public health and food safety
• Animal welfare and behavior
• Emerging diseases and One Health
• Innovation and veterinary technology

เนื่องจาก มีการติดเชื้อโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าทั้งในคนและสัตว์

สัตวแพทยสภาร่วมกับวิทยาลัยวิชาชีพการสัตวแพทย์ชำนาญการแห่งประเทศไทย
ขอเผยแพร่ข้อมูลอันจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อประชาชนโดยทั่วไป ในการเฝ้าระวังและป้องกันโรค

ด้วยความห่วงใย
จากสมาคมสัตวแพทย์ผู้ประกอบการบำบัดโรคสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทย (VPAT)

📍 โรคพิษสุนัขบ้า เกิดจากการติดเชื้อไวรัสชื่อ Rabies (เรบีส์) ซึ่งเป็น RNA virus สามารถติดต่อได้ในสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยน้ำนมทุกชนิด อาทิ สุนัข แมว กระต่าย หนู กระรอก ลิง ชะนีค้างคาว รวมถึงมนุษย์

🖍️ การติดต่อหลักผ่านทางการถูกสัตว์ที่มีเชื้อเรบีส์ กัดจนเกิดบาดแผล ถูกเลียบริเวณบาดแผล หรือที่เยื่อบุบริเวณริมฝีปาก ช่องปาก หรือเยื่อบุตา โดยเชื้อไวรัสในน้ำลายของสัตว์ที่ติดเชื้อจะผ่านเข้าสู่บาดแผลหรือเยื่อบุดังกล่าว และมีการแบ่งตัวที่บริเวณกล้ามเนื้อหรือเนื้อเยื่อที่อยู่ใกล้เคียง ก่อนจะเข้าสู่ปลายประสาทและเส้นประสาท และเข้าสู่ระบบประสาทส่วนกลาง

🎈เมื่อเชื้อเข้าสู่ระบบประสาทส่วนกลางแล้ว จะทำให้เกิดความผิดปกติของระบบประสาทอย่างรุนแรง ทำให้สัตว์ป่วยมีพฤติกรรมเปลี่ยนไป โดยมักแสดงอาการดุร้าย ก้าวร้าว กระวนกระวาย ประสาทหลอน ชัก รวมทั้งเกิดภาวะอัมพาต และเสียชีวิตในที่สุด

⚡โรคพิษสุนัขบ้าจัดเป็นโรคติดต่อจากสัตว์สู่คน (zoonosis) ที่ร้ายแรง และมีอัตราการเสียชีวิต 100% ไม่สามารถรักษาให้หายได้ และยังพบการระบาดอยู่ในประเทศไทยจนถึงปัจจุบัน

💥การป้องกันโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าที่ดีที่สุดคือ การระมัดระวังตนเองและสัตว์เลี้ยงไม่ให้สัมผัสกับสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยน้ำนมที่ไม่ทราบประวัติการทำวัคซีนป้องกันพิษสุนัขบ้า โดยเฉพาะสัตว์จรจัดและสัตว์ป่า ในกรณีที่มีความเสี่ยงในการได้รับเชื้อไวรัสจากการสัมผัสกับน้ำลายหรือสิ่งคัดหลั่งของสัตว์ที่คาดว่ามีการติดเชื้อ ให้รีบทำความสะอาดบาดแผลอย่างเหมาะสม และรีบไปพบแพทย์

👍โรคพิษสุนัขบ้า สามารถป้องกันได้โดยการฉีดวัคซีน เจ้าของสัตว์เลี้ยงประเภทสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยน้ำนม เช่น สุนัข แมว และ กระต่าย ควรนำสัตว์เลี้ยงไปฉีดวัคซีนป้องกันโรคไวรัสเรบีส์ให้กับสัตว์เลี้ยงอย่างต่อเนื่องและสม่ำเสมอตามกำหนดรวมทั้งแนะนำให้มีการควบคุมประชากรสุนัขและแมวอย่างเข้มงวดเพื่อลดโอกาสการมีสุนัขหรือแมวจรจัด ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งรังโรค นอกจากนี้ ควรรณรงค์ไม่ให้นำสัตว์ป่ามาเลี้ยงเนื่องจากอาจเป็นแหล่งของการนำเชื้อไวรัสเรบีส์มาสู่สัตว์เลี้ยงภายในบ้านได้
