Young Horse vs School Master — บทเรียนที่ต่างกัน แต่มีคุณค่าทั้งคู่

ในวงการขี่ม้า “อายุของม้า” เป็นหัวข้อที่ถูกพูดถึงเสมอ
บางคนเชื่อว่าม้าต้องอายุน้อยเพื่อจะ “เติบโตไปด้วยกัน”
บางคนมองว่าม้าต้องเป็น School Master ที่ผ่านโลกมาเยอะแล้วขี่ง่ายกว่า
ความจริงคือ — ทั้งสองแบบมีคุณค่า และให้บทเรียนที่แตกต่างอย่างน่าสนใจค่ะ

School Master — ครูผู้สอนที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับมือใหม่และสมัครเล่น
ม้าที่ผ่านประสบการณ์มามาก มักมีอายุ 12–25 ปี ซึ่งเป็นข้อดีอย่างยิ่งสำหรับผู้เริ่มต้น เพราะ :
• พื้นนิสัยนิ่งกว่า
• เข้าใจ aids ของคนขี่ชัดเจน
• ให้นักเรียน “รู้สึก” ถึงการเคลื่อนไหวที่ถูกต้อง
• ช่วยให้ผู้ขี่พัฒนาทักษะได้รวดเร็วและมั่นใจขึ้น

ความจริงที่คนทั่วไปไม่รู้คือ :
ม้ากีฬาอายุ 20–25 ปี ยังสามารถใช้งานเบา ๆ หรือฝึกขี่ได้สบายมาก
ส่วน pony นั้นยิ่งไปไกลกว่า บางตัวใช้งานได้จนถึงอายุ 28–30 ปีด้วยซ้ำ!

ดังนั้น การซื้อหรือฝึกม้าที่อายุเกิน 12 ปีไปแล้ว
ไม่ใช่เรื่อง “ช้าเกินไป” หรือ “แก่เกินไป” เลยแม้แต่นิดเดียว
แต่เป็นตัวเลือกที่ปลอดภัย ฉลาด และคุ้มค่ามากสำหรับผู้เริ่มต้นขี่ม้า
หรือคนที่อยู่ในขั้นกำลังพัฒนาฝีมือ หรือเริ่มแข่งขันขี่ม้า

Young Horse — ม้าเด็ก เส้นทางที่ต้องใช้ทีมงานและความเข้าใจ
การเริ่มต้นม้าอายุ 3–4 ปี เป็นงานที่ต้องอาศัยผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะด้าน เช่น :
• ผู้เชี่ยวชาญงาน breaking-in / เริ่มใส่อานและอุปกรณ์
• นักขี่ที่ชำนาญม้าอายุน้อยโดยเฉพาะ
• ผู้สร้างประสบการณ์ให้ม้า เริ่มเอาม้าลงผ่านสนามแข่ง

เพราะม้าหนุ่ม–สาวมักจะมีธรรมชาติแบบนี้ :
• ขี้เล่นและท้าทาย (playful & testing)
• สมาธิสั้นกว่า
• ไวต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม
• ต้องการความสม่ำเสมอ และจังหวะการฝึกที่แม่นยำ
• ต้องการผู้ขี่ที่อ่านอารมณ์ม้าออก และตอบสนองได้ถูกจังหวะ

เสียงเล่าสุดโรแมนติกที่เขาว่ากันว่าว่า “ซื้อเด็กม้าไว้โตไปด้วยกัน”
ภาพมันดูงดงาม — แต่เป็นความจริงได้เฉพาะเมื่อมีทีมงานและความเข้าใจเพียงพอค่ะ เพราะการสร้าง young horse หรือม้าเด็ก 1 ตัว ให้เป็นม้ากีฬา ที่ ใช้งานได้จริง แข่งชนะได้จริง ทั้งในม้ากระโดด แล ะศิลปะการบังคับม้า
ใช้เวลาอย่างน้อย 3–6 ปี ของการฝึกและพัฒนาค่ะ

แล้วแบบไหนดีกว่ากัน?
คำตอบคือ — ไม่มีแบบไหนดีกว่ากันค่ะ ทุกอย่างขึ้นอยู่กับ “เป้าหมาย และประสบการณ์ของผู้ขี่”
• ถ้าต้องการความปลอดภัย ความนิ่ง และการเรียนรู้ทักษะพื้นฐาน → เลือก School Master
• ถ้ามีทีมงานพร้อม และต้องการประสบการณ์สร้างม้าตั้งแต่ต้น → เลือก Young Horse
ทั้งสองนั้นให้บทเรียนต่างกัน แต่มีคุณค่าพอ ๆ กัน

Young Horse vs School Master — Two Different Paths, Both Equally Valuable

In the equestrian world, the question of a horse’s age comes up often.
Some believe a horse must be young so rider and horse can “grow together.”
Others look for an older School Master who has already seen the world.
The truth is simple — both types offer different lessons, and both are deeply meaningful.

School Master — the greatest teacher for beginners and amateurs

Experienced horses, usually between 12–25 years old, are incredibly valuable for learning because they :
• Have calmer, more settled temperaments
• Understand the rider’s aids clearly
• Allow students to *feel* the correct movement
• Build confidence quickly
• Remain rideable for many years with proper care

A fact many people don’t know :
• A sport horse aged 20–25 can still work lightly and teach safely
• Ponies often go even further — some remain active until 28–30 years old

So choosing a horse above 12 years old is *not late, *not old, and certainly not a disadvantage.
For beginners, young riders, or riders developing their technique, it is often the safest and smartest choice.

Young Horse — a journey that requires a full team and real understanding

Starting a horse at 3–4 years old is a specialised job.
It requires :
• A professional to do the breaking-in and early schooling
• Riders who specialise in young horses
• Trainers who take them to their first shows and build their early experience

Because young horses naturally tend to be :
• Playful and testing
• Shorter in attention span
• Sensitive to environment and stimuli
• In need of rhythm, consistency, and precise timing
• Suitable for riders who can read emotions and react correctly

People often romanticise the idea of: Buy a baby horse and grow up together.
It can be a beautiful journey — but only when supported by correct training, experienced handlers, and realistic expectations. Developing a young horse into a safe and rideable sport horse takes 3–6 years, sometimes longer.

So which one is better?
Neither is “better” than the other
The right choice depends entirely on the rider’s goals and experience.

• If you want safety, stability, and to learn correct technique → choose a School Master
• If you have a professional team and want the experience of developing a horse → choose a Young Horse

Both paths teach different lessons. Both are equally valuable.

หนุ่มฉลาดเป็นกรดแห่งคอกเรา — หมี
ม้าไทย ผสม ตัวผู้ หนุ่มเปรี้ยวๆ อายุ 5 ปี

วันนี้อยากมาแนะนำ “เด็กหนุ่มจอมเจ้าเล่ห์ประจำคอก” ของเราค่ะ
เจ้า หมี ม้าหนุ่มสายไทยผสม ที่รวมเอาความฉลาด ไวพริบ และความกะทัดรัดอันโดดเด่นของ ม้าไทยพื้นบ้าน ไว้อย่างเต็มตัว
หมีเป็นหนึ่งในม้าที่มังกี้รู้สึกว่า กำลังวางแผนอะไรบางอย่างอยู่แน่ ๆ เขาขี้เล่น มักทดสอบคนขี่ทุกคน แต่ในเวลาเดียวกัน เขาจดจำคนเก่ง อ่านอารมณ์คนรอบตัวไว และแสดงให้เห็นว่าเป็นม้าที่มี EQ สูงมากอีกตัวหนึ่งในคอก

ทำความรู้จัก “ม้าไทย” :
ม้าไทยถูกจัดเป็นกลุ่ม Tropical Asian Horse — มีสายเลือดจากม้ามองโกล, ม้าจีนตอนใต้, ม้าเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และผสมกับสายพันธุ์ยุโรปบางส่วนในยุคหลัง จึงเกิดเป็นม้าที่ตัวเล็ก แข็งแรง ฉลาด และ “เอาตัวรอดเก่ง”

ลักษณะเด่นที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของม้าไทย :
• กะทัดรัดและสมดุลดีมาก — ตัวเล็กแต่โครงสร้างแข็งแรง อกลึก กระดูกแน่น
• กีบแข็งแรงมาก — เหมาะกับพื้นที่ร้อนชื้น ดินแข็ง ดินโคลน ไม่พังกีบง่าย
• ระบบหายใจและหัวใจทนทาน — วิ่งระยะยาวในอากาศร้อนชื้นได้ดีกว่าหลายสายพันธุ์ยุโรป
• Metabolism ประหยัดพลังงาน — กินง่าย อยู่ได้ในสภาพฟาร์มพื้นบ้าน
• ฉลาด ไวพริบสูง — หลายตัว “อ่านคน” เก่ง ชอบทดลอง ชอบทดสอบ
• ปรับตัวเร็ว และไม่ค่อยเครียด
• ฟื้นตัวเร็วแบบธรรมชาติ
• นิสัยขี้เล่นแบบ cheeky — ท้าทายคนขี่ แต่เมื่อชนะใจแล้วจะเป็นม้าที่ “ร่วมมือและตั้งใจมาก”

ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง ม้าไทยจึงถูกจัดว่าเป็นหนึ่งในสายพันธุ์ที่ Hardy ที่สุด อึด ทน ปรับตัวเก่ง ทั้งสภาพอากาศและโรคแมลง

บันทึกของผู้เขียน :
สิ่งที่ทำให้มังกี้สนใจสายม้าไทยอย่างจริงจัง ไม่ได้มีแค่ความแข็งแรงทางกาย แต่คือ ความสามารถในการ เอาชนะ สภาพแวดล้อมแบบไทย ที่โหดกว่ายุโรปหลายเท่า
เพราะจากประสบการณ์ทำงานกับม้านำเข้าจากยุโรป ทั้ งสปอร์ตฮอร์ส, วอร์มบลัด, ลูซิตาโน, อันดาลูเซียน และ สาย อื่นๆ

มีความจริงที่หลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ว่า:

อากาศร้อนชื้น ของไทย + ฤดูฝน + แมลงจำนวนมหาศาล
คือ 3 ปัจจัยร้ายแรง ที่ทำให้ ศักยภาพ และ สุขภาพม้าลดลง

• ความร้อนทำให้ระบบหมุนเวียนเลือดทำงานหนัก
• ความชื้นทำให้แผลหายช้า ติดเชื้อและเกิดเชื้อราง่าย
• ยุง เหลือบ แมลงวันคอก แมลงริ้น — กัดจนเกิดอักเสบ แผลติดเชื้อ ผิวหนังแพ้ง่าย
• ระบบภูมิคุ้มกันลดลง
• สมาธิและความสบายใจของม้าลดลง กระทบการขี่และความสม่ำเสมอของการฝึก

แต่ในขณะที่ม้านำเข้าต้องปรับตัวหนัก…
ม้าไทยกลับรับมือทั้งหมดได้ “เป็นเรื่องปกติของชีวิต”

ความแข็งแรงนี้ ไม่ได้ เกิดจากการฝึก แต่ เกิดจาก สายเลือด ที่ปรับตัวกับ ภูมิประเทศ เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ มานานหลายร้อยปี

นี่คือ “ความแข็งแรงทางพันธุกรรม” ที่ไม่มีทางซื้อได้จากการนำเข้า
และนี่เองที่ทำให้มังกี้เริ่มมองเห็น ม้าไทย ในอีกมุมหนึ่ง ว่า คือ สายเลือด ที่ ควรค่าแก่การพัฒนา และ ต่อยอดในอนาคต

The Thai Youngster of Our Stable — Meah
Thai Mixed Breed Stallion, 5 years old

Today I want to introduce the “cheeky young mastermind” of our stable, " Meah". A Thai mixed-breed stallion who embodies the intelligence, quick thinking, and compact athleticism that define the Thai Native Horse.

Meah is one of those horses you can feel is always plotting something.

He’s playful, constantly testing every rider he meets, yet at the same time he remembers people well, reads emotions quickly, and shows an impressively high EQ — one of the sharpest young minds in our stable.

Understanding the Thai Horse :
Thai horses belong to the group known as Tropical Asian Horses.
A blend of Mongolian, Southern Chinese, Southeast Asian bloodlines, with later influence from some European types.
This created a horse that is small, strong, highly intelligent, and exceptionally good at surviving in challenging environments.

Key Characteristics of the Thai Horse :
• Compact and well-balanced — small frame, deep chest, dense bone
• Extremely strong hooves — ideal for tropical climates, hard ground, mud; rarely damaged
• Durable cardio-respiratory system — performs long distances in heat and humidity better than many European breeds
• Energy-efficient metabolism — easy keeper, thrives in simple farm conditions
• Highly intelligent and quick-witted — many can “read people,” love experimenting, love testing
• Fast adapters, low stress levels
• Naturally fast recovery
• Playfully cheeky temperament — challenges riders, but once you earn their trust, they work with impressive dedication

This is why Thai horses are recognized as one of the Hardiest breeds in Asia, tough, resilient, and adaptive in both climate and disease resistance.

Author’s Note :
What draws me deeply toward the Thai horse is not only physical durability — but their remarkable ability to overcome Thailand’s extreme environment, something far harsher than anything in Europe.

From years of working with imported European horses: Sport Horses, Warmbloods, Lusitanos, Andalusians and more.

But there is an unavoidable truth :

Thai heat + Humidity + Massive Insect Pressure
Are 3 devastating factors that reduce a horse’s performance and health.

• Heat forces the circulatory system to work harder
• Humidity slows wound healing and accelerates fungal infections
• Mosquitoes, horseflies, stable flies, midges — cause inflammation, skin reactions, infections
• Immune function drops
• Comfort, focus, and rideability decrease noticeably

While imported horses struggle to adapt, Thai horses handle all of this as simply part of it's life.

Their resilience does not come from training, but from bloodlines shaped by hundreds of years of survival in Southeast Asia.
This is genetic durability, something no amount of money can buy through imported horses.

And this is why I now sees the Thai horse in a new light. Not just as a local utility animal, but as a heritage bloodline worth developing and elevating for the future.

วันนี้อยากมาแนะนำสุภาพบุรุษแห่งโลกโปโลของคอกเราค่ะ — Sebastian

Sebastian หนุ่ม Polo Pony ผู้สง่างาม
เป็นม้าของ คุณก้อย ชญาธิป และ ผู้พัน บีม บุญญฤทธิ์

Polo — ศิลปะของความเร็ว การตัดสินใจ และทีมเวิร์กบนหลังม้า
โปโลเป็นกีฬาที่ผสมผสานความเร็วระดับ 60 กม./ชม. เข้ากับความฉลาดของม้าและจังหวะของผู้ขี่อย่างใกล้ชิด
ในหนึ่งเกมจะแบ่งเป็นหลายช่วงสั้น ๆ ที่เรียกว่า Chukka ซึ่งแต่ละช่วงใช้พลังแบบ เต็มกำลัง " ทั้งเร่ง, หยุด, เปลี่ยนทิศ, หมุน, และ กลับไปสปรินต์ " อีกครั้ง ภายในเสี้ยววินาทีเดียว

Polo Pony/Horse — ม้าสายผสมเพื่อกีฬาโปโลโดยเฉพาะ

• Quarter Horse Influence - ให้พลัง “stop-and-turn” แบบฉับพลันที่ใช้ใน stock work

คุณสมบัติสุดพิเศษของ Polo Pony :

• เร็วแบบวาร์ป — ออกตัวแรง เปลี่ยนสปีดทันที
• หมุนตัวฉับพลัน — turning radius แคบที่สุดในกีฬาม้า

• ม้าโปโลระดับโลกบางตัวในอาร์เจนตินาถูก โคลนนิ่ง เพื่อรักษา DNA สายเลือดระดับตำนาน
• นักกีฬาระดับสูงใช้ม้า 4–8 ตัว ต่อหนึ่งแมตช์
• ม้าโปโลแชมป์มีราคาสูง เทียบเท่าม้า Grand Prix Show Jumping ระดับ 1.50–1.60 ม.

Polo — the art of speed, decision-making, and teamwork on horseback
Polo is one of the oldest equestrian sports, combining speeds of over 60 km/h with the horse’s intelligence and the rider’s rhythm.
Each match is divided into short, intense periods called Chukkas, where every second demands full power — accelerating, stopping, turning, spinning, and sprinting again in the blink of an eye.

Polo Pony/Horse — a purpose-bred athlete made specifically for the sport
Despite the name, Polo Ponies are not ponies. They are compact, agile horses standing 14.2–15.3 hh, bred for speed, precision, and lightning-fast responses.

Zorro ม้าไทยผสมสาย ลิปิซาน แสนอบอุ่น

Zorro เป็นหนึ่งในม้าที่มี “เรื่องราว” มากกว่าความสวยงามภายนอก เขาเกิดที่จังหวัดระยอง จากฟาร์มเล็ก ๆ ที่สร้างด้วยหัวใจล้วน ๆ แต่ปิดตัวลงหลังเจ้าของผู้หลงรักม้าจากไป ท่ามกลางความเรียบง่ายนั้นเอง Zorro คือม้าที่มอบบทเรียนล้ำค่าที่สุดให้กับพวกเรา

และตลอดเวลานั้น Zorro อยู่ตรงนั้นเสมอ ม้าตอนจุดเริ่มต้น — เขาอาจไม่ใช่ม้าที่ “เพอร์เฟกต์ที่สุด” แต่เขาซื่อสัตย์ ปลอดภัย ให้อภัยคนง่าย และพร้อมจะพาเราไปต่อทุกครั้งที่ขอ

ในวัยชรา หน้าที่ของเราคือ “ตอบแทน” ตอบแทนความทุ่มเท ความซื่อสัตย์ ความอดทน และหัวใจของเขาที่มอบให้ครอบครัวเรา เขาสมควรได้รับทุกความรัก ทุกการดูแล และทุกความสบายที่เราสามารถให้ได้

Zorro is our gentle old man — a Thai-bred mixed warmblood with European roots and a story far richer than any show record. Born in Rayong at a small, heartfelt stable that closed after its owner passed away, he became the first true horse our family ever owned.

He was my sister’s very first partner — an odd but wonderfully versatile mix who could do a bit of everything: dressage, jumping, cross-country, and endless riding adventures. Nothing fancy, nothing flashy, but he had the most important quality a young rider could ever wish for: a calm, steady, dependable mind.

Looking back, Zorro is truly where my sister’s journey began — from an ordinary young rider to the athlete she is now, competing at Olympic level.

Damn! That strawberry-head girl is out there jumping at the Olympics — Can you believe that?! But well, he have always been there, not the most perfect horse, but he was honest, safe, forgiving, and always willing.

Zorro was also one of our teachers. Through him, we learned horsemanship, management, patience, responsibility — and the truth that real growth comes from trial, error, and genuine effort.

Now in his late 28s, his coat has turned grey-white like a wise grandfather, and his face carries the softness of old age. And today, our role is to give back — to honour the loyalty, service, and countless memories he has shared with us.

We believe retired horses deserve the same love and care they gave us during their working years. They are family, not tools, and their value only grows with time.

ขอแนะนำสาวม้าผู้มีความงามแบบสเปนแท้ ๆ อีกหนึ่งตัวของคอกค่ะ — Olympia เธอถูกคัดเลือกด้วยตัวเองจากสเปน เป็น Andalusian แบบ Baroque Type ที่มีความกลมกลืนทั้งลำตัว ลำคอสวยฐานคอใหญ่ เส้นหลังเนียนต่อเนื่อง และ สี Bay เข้มที่ไม่ค่อยมี ในไทย

Olympia เป็นม้าที่ สุภาพ เรียบร้อย และมีความเป็นผู้หญิงสูง และ รับรู้อารมณ์สิ่งรอบตัวไวมาก จึงเป็นม้าที่แสดง character ได้ชัดเจนในทุกอิริยาบถ ความไว ความละเอียด และความเป็นนักคิดของเธอเป็นเสน่ห์ที่หาได้ยากในม้าทั่วไป เธอเป็นม้าประเภทที่อ่านคนเก่ง จำคนได้ดี และจะเปิดใจเฉพาะกับคนที่เธอรู้สึกปลอดภัย
