🇹🇭🇱🇰 สวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว องค์การสวนสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ต้อนรับท่านเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ สาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา พร้อมเจ้าหน้าที่จากประเทศศรีลังกา ศึกษาดูงานด้านการบริหารจัดการช้างเอเชีย และสวัสดิภาพสัตว์
วันที่ 14 พฤษภาคม 2569นายณรงวิทย์ ชดช้อย ผู้อำนวยการสวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว ให้การต้อนรับ ท่านไพฑูรย์ มหาพัณณาภรณ์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ สาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา พร้อมด้วยคณะผู้แทนจากวัดพระเขี้ยวแก้ว วัดเกลนียา และกรมสวนสัตว์ ประเทศศรีลังกา (Department of National Zoolical Gardens) ในโอกาสเดินทางเยี่ยมชมและศึกษาดูงานด้านการบริหารจัดการช้างเอเชีย ระหว่างวันที่ 14 – 15 พฤษภาคม 2569 ณ ห้องประชุมบาหลี สวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว จังหวัดชลบุรี
การศึกษาดูงานครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และประสบการณ์ด้านการอนุรักษ์ การดูแลสุขภาพ และการส่งเสริมสวัสดิภาพช้างเอเชีย โดยคณะผู้แทนได้ศึกษาแนวทางการดำเนินงานด้านเทคโนโลยีการสืบพันธุ์ช้าง การส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมช้างเอเชีย (Elephant Enrichment) ตลอดจนการสร้างพฤติกรรมตามธรรมชาติของช้างภายในสวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว และยังได้ร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้กับพนักงานเลี้ยงช้างและเจ้าหน้าที่ของสวนสัตว์ฯ ในด้านการจัดการสุขาภิบาลช้างภายในสวนสัตว์
การดูแลและบริหารจัดการช้างชรา รวมถึงการจัดการด้านโภชนาการสำหรับช้างชรา เพื่อยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตและสวัสดิภาพของช้างเอเชียอย่างเหมาะสม
ทั้งนี้ คณะผู้แทนยังได้ศึกษาดูงานในจุดสำคัญต่าง ๆ ภายในสวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว อาทิ งานโภชนาการสัตว์ ระบบการจัดเก็บอาหารสัตว์ การจัดการอาหารสำหรับช้างชรา และการจัดทำ Diet Card สำหรับช้าง รวมถึงห้องปฏิบัติการงานวิจัยด้านช้าง การรีดและจัดเก็บน้ำเชื้อ และการตรวจวิเคราะห์ฮอร์โมนช้าง เพื่อเสริมสร้างองค์ความรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีในการอนุรักษ์ช้างเอเชีย
การศึกษาดูงานในครั้งนี้ นับเป็นโอกาสสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศศรีลังกา ด้านการอนุรักษ์สัตว์ป่า การพัฒนาสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ และการบริหารจัดการสวนสัตว์ ฯ
Khao Kheow Open Zoo Welcomes Sri Lankan Delegation to Study Asian Elephant Management and Animal Welfare
On May 14, 2026, Mr. Narongwit Chodchoy, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo under the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand, officially welcomed H.E. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, the Ambassador of Thailand to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The visiting delegation also included representatives from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kelaniya Temple, and the Department of National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka.
The study tour, held between May 14–15, 2026, serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise regarding the conservation, healthcare, and welfare of Asian elephants. During the visit, the delegation explored several key operational areas, including.
Reproductive Technology: Studying advanced methods for elephant breeding and population management.
Elephant Enrichment: Observing techniques used to encourage natural behaviors and improve the quality of life for elephants in a captive environment.
Sanitation and Daily Management: Exchanging practical insights with zoo staff and mahouts regarding habitat cleanliness and general care.
Geriatric Care and Nutrition: Learning about specialized care and dietary management designed specifically for elderly elephants to ensure their long-term well-being.
Additionally, the delegation visited the zoo’s animal nutrition center to observe food storage systems and the implementation of "Diet Cards" for individual elephants. They also toured the research laboratory, which focuses on elephant semen collection, storage, and hormone analysis, highlighting the role of science and technology in modern conservation.
This initiative is regarded as a vital opportunity to strengthen international cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka in the fields of wildlife conservation, animal welfare development, and professional zoo management.
