Long time since last update!
We must honestly say that right now we have our hands More then full with our restaurant, so it's not much progress around the "Straydog rescue team plans. But here is at least a bunch of photos of the dogs we already saved, and that's now our children!
Lucky, Brownie and Foxy
I think its safe to say that they are having a pretty ok life..! 😊💜🐕

Just letting anybody looking at this page know, that we are still active in our mission on doing a more structured and professional effort to to help the local stray dogs.

Thank you so much for all lovely dog loving people who donate food and other things to help out

Right now we are having our hands full with the dogs that live with us and that we call our children.

Lucky had and accident that could have been fatal.. She jumped of the sidecar bike after she got scared when we were passing an elefant on the road... After we went to the vet to check on her wounds, we also found out that she is struggling a little with some genetic unstableties. After a couple of different tests at the vet it looks like we are already doing the best thing we can do for her, healthy food, daily excersise and a lot of love.

Foxy got sick with blood parasites, probably from a infected tick, that we treated with medecin and got her healthy again.

Brownie has been sick for a while, also with bloodparasites and more so from a life threatening liver infection, probably caused by something poisonous that he ate somewhere...
He is doing amazingly good regarding the strong medecin he need to eat 3 times a day, but we still need to go check his blood every second week.

Dam, our black lady security, has passed away. She is missed, but she was old and we are sure she had a good life with us and still protects us in some way.

We still trying to check in on the local stray dogs and every night we are bringing our left overs from the restaurant that are suitable for dog food, but right now we just don't have enough time to do more.

In the pictures you can see that no matter if a dog is not feeling a 100%, they make sure to rest when they rest and then enjoy every moment awake just as much as they can!
We hopmosapiens have a lot learn from this..

It’s now about 6 months since we found Lucky. At first sight we were afraid she would not even live one more day (see earlier post). She became stronger then we ever thought was possible and is now our little whirlwind in the family! Our other daughter, Foxy, (with a very similar story) took care of her like it was her baby from day one, and they are still best friends! Brownie loves her to, even if he thinks she can be quuuite annoying at times when she refuses to stop nagging his tail when he tries to sleep..

So, we finally got time to make an little update here!

“Kao” ( you can read her story in an earlier post ) is almost ready to start her journey to her foster home in Czechoslovakia! The plan is that she will fly in the middle of April. Just hope they won’t charge “overweight” thou she became quite big since she came to us,, spoiled much..?.. 😉

“Lucky” seems to be our own new family member now, because we have still not found any other home where we think she will be loved and cared for,,and truth is , we haven’t really tried that hard because we are just to attached to the small energy hurricane now.. 🙂

“Dam” has been to the vet and been taken care of. Cutting of a bad nail and an overall check. She is really shy and it’s hard to even come close and touch her, So when we finally could catch her we also gave her a big shower and a new collar. Even if she was so scared that she pooped al over when we catch her, there was no doubt that she really appreciated it all afterwards.

And overall the other dogs are just as cute, time demanding and sometime annoying as any other children can be..
Crying when it’s time for showering but still rolls in the buffalo poo the next day, so we need to do it al over again..Nagging the other dogs ass when they are sleeping, digging up new planted vegetables, coming in from playing in the rain , super wet and muddy, and makes total chaos in the restaurant in 10 seconds..

We don’t have much time to look at any television or movies, and we don’t need it, because with al those different characters around us al day, it’s like living in a cartoon 24/7! Life is made for smiling!

The story of Khao moving to Europe !

Khao was found tired, dehydrated and lonely outside a hotel by a lovely couple from Czechoslovakia , who was here in Khaolak on holiday. After asking around they understood that her owner had moved away and no other dogs in the area seemed to accept her. Khao followed them wherever they walked and after they spent almost every day with her ,here on their vacation , they decided to adopt her and bring her back home to Czech. They came to us to ask for advice on how to proceed and asked if we also could take care of Khao while al the paperwork , vaccines etc, gets done. She is extremely friendly and now doing well with our other dogs ( we are pretty sure she’s already fallen in love with our son, Brownie , thou she won’t stop kissing him..🙂. If all goes as planed she will be flying to Europe in a couple of months. She will be living at the country side in Czech with 3 other dogs that the couple already have. We are sure she will be loved and cared for and we are so happy that we can help make yet another dog Lucky in life!

( We are so thankful for al the kind supportive words and also for the donations that you bring, to help the local stray dogs in khao lak. We are still trying to find the right way to develop the idea and organize some kind of team to do this more professional, Thank you! )

Lucky is still looking for a home with lots of love. She’s getting stronger and healthier every day.

______
> So,
Another street dog laying outside the restaurant in the morning ( just like our “daughter” Foxy did almost exactly 1 year ago..),,
We found Lucky by the trash can,,looks like she might have escaped a plastic bag thrown there..so someone might actually just have thrown her as garbage, still alive...

Looked like she was on her last breaths,,no power to fight back any other dogs standing around her barking,,she was just laying with her paws over the eyes, crying quietly, begging for mercy..

No normal human with some sense of sympathy would have just left her there.
So, we took her behind the restaurant, tried to give her some milk and dog food,, she barely licked the milk and showed no interest in the food. After some attempts we finally got some water in her mouth that she seemed to swallow,,then we gave her a cool shower with water..
5 min in to the shower she was starting waving her tail, just a little,
and life literally came back into her eyes..
We showered her with dog shampoo at least 3 times,,got as many ticks and bugs of her as possible ,without shaving her... gave her medicine for her hundreds of ticks..some coconut oil on the wounds and tried to clean her up and give her comfort as best as we could at the moment.

She is now , (evening day one) eating, and drinking nicely! We were afraid she didn’t had anything to eat in days, thou she is very skinny, and would have problems if we gave her to much at once,, so we now try to give small portions of light meals with a steady rhythm .
She seems very lovely and We are sure she will make it, and be a beautiful best friend , for Someone.( Just like our own “daughter” Foxy, who have a very similar story.)
Fact is, we would love to keep her, but we just don’t have the time, economy or space for another member in our family right now....

We wanted to take her to the local vet just over over the street,, but after we visited to ask for advice,, without saying to much, We decided that we will take her to another vet clinic.

We Will now try take her to the vet and animal hospital in Phangnga as soon as possible. (where we feel like they have a high standard and good experience in animal care..)

You are very welcome to donate some Baht to help “Lucky” recover as fast and comfortable as possible.
As said, Our plan is to take her to Phangnga vet and animal hospital, to give her a complete health check and get the right medicines for her skin, and what else might be needed..

( We know that many people are interested in helping stray dogs in the area, and we have future plans to put together some kind of organization with a donation fund and a crew to do that, but let’s focus on Lucky for now )
