The Eswatini Environment Authority was proud to participate in this year’s Mayor’s Golf Cup, hosted by the Municipal Council of Mbabane at the Mbabane Golf Course. Despite the cold and rainy weather, it was inspiring to see all the teams push through and play until the final round. A true display of commitment, leadership and sportsmanship! Moments like these remind us that even under grey skies, community spirit and collaboration continue to shine.

Why Fruit Trees 🌳🍋?

●They combat climate change by absorbing Carbon Dioxide
● They provide sustainable food sources for communities
● They promote biodiversity and healthier ecosystems

We encourage every school, community and individual to start your own tree-planting initiative. Whether it's one tree or one hundred, every action counts in building a sustainable Eswatini.

From the 23rd to 24th June 2025, the Eswatini Environment Authority (EEA) participated in the Eastern & Southern Africa ESD-NET Regional Workshop, organised by the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the region to strengthen collaboration, build capacity, and exchange good practices in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), climate change, and greening education initiatives.

As part of the ESD network, EEA is actively implementing the National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development by working with schools, communities, and partners to integrate environmental values into learning and empower all citizens to take action for a more sustainable future.

Together with regional and development partners, we continue to build capacity and share best practices to ensure that education becomes a powerful tool for climate action and sustainable development.

On the 5th of July 2025, The Eswatini Environment Authority, in collaboration with Ezulwini Municipality and Ebuka Umphakatsi, proudly launched a Buy-Back Centre and Waste Drop-Off Point for the Ebuka community.

This community-driven initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting sustainable waste management and reducing environmental pollution in Ezulwini. Located just 5 km outside the town’s urban boundary, the peri-urban community of Ebuka now has a dedicated waste drop-off point and recycling centre.

Through this centre, residents can now responsibly manage their waste, engage in waste segregation, and participate in recycling initiatives that support a cleaner, greener community.

The Ebuka community has taken the lead in shaping its own waste management system, setting a great example for other peri-urban areas across the country.

Today, the Eswatini Environment Authority, through its Ozone Unit, officially handed over sun protection items to the Stukie Motsa Foundation under the campaign "Safe Skin, Bright Future.”

Held at Hilton Garden Inn, the campaign launch brought together key partners including the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and community members to highlight how ozone layer protection directly supports the health and dignity of persons with albinism. Some of the items handed over included sunscreens, hats and essential toiletries.

This campaign will target school going children with albinism from all four regions of Eswatini, ensuring that those most vulnerable to UV exposure are protected and empowered.

This activity is a reminder that protecting the environment is about protecting the people and that everyone deserves a bright future with clear, healthy skin.
