Fancy accessories can be eye-catching and trendy, but functionality and suitability are what I advocate for. I know purchasing decisions are always a personal choice, but seeing small dogs on thick BioThane leashes with heavy hardware sometimes makes me pause.

Here’s Meringue, carrying his own BioThane leash. A simple reminder of what that looks like in practice. Mini is best suited for small dogs. Lightweight, flexible, easy to clean, and comfortable enough to forget it’s even there.

Most people don’t turn to BioThane for a ‘better leash’. They come frustrated, because the one they’re using gets dirty, smells, keeps shifting, and takes forever to wash and dry.⁣
⁣
In 2024, I rethink how I make my hands-free leashes, not by adding more features, but by taking things away and listening closely to what customers have shared with me over the years.⁣
⁣
That’s why this design is made to fit 𝘺𝘰𝘶 from the start, with no constant adjusting. It has fewer default add-ons, a fixed smaller handle for more relaxed walks, and three colours you can actually see.⁣
⁣
One thing I hear all the time is how tabs and rings start staining and causing folds in the leash over time. And honestly, as a customer myself, I’d hate to invest in something only to realise it stops doing its job. This design was my answer to that.⁣

The sweetest Belle in our slip leash, with her human wearing our phone strap. Four years ago, they were customers, then ambassadors for our brand, and somewhere along the way, we became friends. If you’re new here — hello! I’m Zann, the owner and maker behind Staple Studio.⁣
⁣
Every single piece that leaves my hands is made by me, start to finish. So first and foremost, thank you for surviving another year with me. We wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you. Being able to craft accessories for you and your pets is an honour I don’t take lightly.⁣
⁣
Crafting has always been my safe space. But the truth is, even passion gets tired. 2025 was a hard year for me personally, and fatigue was something I carried quietly for most of it. Showing up on difficult days while still doing my best was one of the biggest challenges I faced.⁣
⁣
One thing this year taught me as a business owner is to trust myself more. There were moments (especially at fairs) where I questioned my pricing, my place, and whether people would choose something cheaper instead. But customers walked away and came back. The quiet wins this year meant everything to me. Customers returning. Friends recommending Staple Studio to others. Hearing “my friend told me to check you out.” Numbers come and go, but the impression you leave lasts. At its core, Staple Studio has always been about relationships. I don’t just want to sell you something, I want to build something with you.⁣
⁣
2025 also showed me how resilient I actually am. Despite feeling tired, I showed up. I did my first Pet Expo, explored new directions, and took time away to reset and find myself again. And even though I often think I’m not resilient, this year proved otherwise.

As the year comes to a close, I’ll be taking a final break! ⁣I’ll be away from 22nd Dec to 5th Jan.

Thank you for giving me the space to rest, reset, and come back with a fuller heart. Thank you for choosing Staple Studio, for trusting my hands, my work, and my heart. If you’ve been here for a while, thank you for staying. If you’re new, welcome! I’m really glad you’re here.⁣

Christmas has always been my favourite season, not because of the gifts I receive, but because many years ago, my parents decided to bless me with a sibling on Christmas.

While he was an absolute terror to live with in my early years (as little brothers often are 😅), I grew up knowing he was the best gift my parents ever gave me — my first best friend, my forever family.

So when it came to designing our Christmas tag this year, I knew it had to be in the shape of a present. A little reminder that sometimes, the best gifts aren’t the ones wrapped under a tree, but the people (and pets) we get to call our own.
