As a Member of the Fear Free Pets's Speakers Bureau and Fear Free Certified Animal Trainer, I have made it my mission to minimise the fear, anxiety and stress experienced by our pets.

Aversive tool use on animals (e[lectronic]-collars) means that pets are perpetually subjected to unnecessary, chronic emotional and physiological trauma, which effectively robs them of the choices and freedom necessary to live a happy and healthy life. These are all key indicators of animal welfare (ref. Brambell's Five Freedoms).

Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in Singapore (and many other parts of the world) is this - dubious methods of training based on pseudosciences ('dominance', 'animal communication', etc.) are still being aggressively promoted and accepted by many pet parents on the advice of 'pet professionals' with little to no education in science-based animal training and behaviour. This is a big issue. Misinformation can do more harm than no information at all.

We would like to inform everyone that there is no doubt regarding the best method for animal training. Positive reinforcement. Choosing positive reinforcement should not be a hard decision - it is not only heavily supported by science, humane and effective, it is so easy to adopt and use. Don't believe us? Just ask our human and animal clients!

We are immensely proud of Petco for leading with the explicit ban ( ) on shock collars and similarly call on other local and overseas sellers to do the same. Small collaborative steps such as these take us closer to a better world for us, and the animals that intimately and inextricably share theirs lives together with ours.

It should come as no surprise, that a first world country like Singapore should not be a follower, especially regarding animal welfare issues. Appropriately, Singapore must take the lead to drive the positive pet care revolution, one human, one animal, one experience at a time. We are heartened to support SPCA Singapore to Teach with Kindness and .

We must speak on behalf of the animals that we earnestly serve and firmly rebuke the belief that it is ok for animals to suffer in silence.

They deserve to be heard. And to lead healthy, happy and safe lives worthy of living.

Tick-Tock! This is a continuation of last week’s livestream, where we explore the usage of clicker training in one of the most common use cases – the resolution of problem behaviours. What clicker training principles should we use to keep problem behaviours at bay, or better yet, set the right foundations needed to prevent problem behaviours from occurring? Using the tenets of positive training, Join The Pawrus Team - Kevin Yeo 杨国威 and Jasline Aiw 姚思蕾 , as we discuss these issues LIVE!

What would you like to know? Have any kitty or doggy questions for us? Message us or comment below and we'll answer them next Tuesday, 18th August 2020, 9.00PM (GMT+8).
