Bought a lovely blue knit dress from swapping platform The Fashion Pulpit with the intention to repurpose it into a top as the length was rather short for me. The clothing at the shop are pre-loved but are in good shape and are pretty well curated - lots of lovely clothing at a fraction of the price that I would normally pay for.

It was a simple job. I cut off the bottom portion of the dress and hemmed it up, turning the dress into a top. And then I discovered the leftover fabric was just enough to make a second top - a sleeveless one with straps - perfect for this sweltering weather!

For the other top, I simply formed a tube with the remaining fabric and added a band before adding the straps.

Loving that I could get 2 tops with different looks out of 1 pre-loved item.. this was a super satisfying project!

I made the Peppermint Maxi dress in a lovely blush pink linen for the first day of Chinese New year - a relaxed, swishy dress that I could lounge about in comfortably while visiting and stuffing myself with CNY goodies.

I bought the linen from BIG + BRAVE Fabrics on a whim during a sale and felt it was perfect for this.

Loved that the dress was roomy yet with a secure fit at the bust. Loving also the back view with the elastic. And I really only needed 1.5m of fabric for this!

Had so much fun taking pics in it - It was so roomy I could even do a standing split in the dress! (See last pic 😆)

It is such a joy working with my lovely friend Cynthia.

So glad for her support and being my first baby wear student. She did an excellent job in making a baby romper as a gift for her friend's baby, despite all the challenges in completing this piece..!

It is such a lovely reversible baby romper from the organic cotton khaki and white combi to the button details. Love her minimalist taste in guiding out the colours and the look.

Love working with people to make gifts for their loved ones. Making a handmade gift is a labour of love and am always inspired by Cynthia's love and heart for others.

Workshops for babywear now available. Visit https://sparkyoursewingjoy.wixsite.com/sewpawsitively for details or message directly from FB, IG or whatsapp.

I made a matching Axis skirt in a blue checkered linen fabric to match my Ogden Cami checkered top, and now I have a full outfit that can also be worn as separates!

The fabric caught my eye and I found myself thinking about it for a few days after initially passing it. I wasn't sure about blue checkered linen at first as it did remind me of table cloth but it also gave an all-american wholesome vibe that felt quite in-trend.

And I love how it turned out - just like how I imagined it.

Loving that the outfit in my mind can become reality. And it was all done with 1 metre of wide width double-sided linen fabric!

Its a lovely versatile skirt and I can envisage more colours and matching sets to come.

We made the Lily dress and matching ribbon headband for the adorable 3 month old Sarah and it fitted her perfectly.

The dress comes with elasticated neckline and sleeves which hopefully grows along abit more with the kid before they outgrow it!

But with the lovely design and soft double gauze cherry print fabric, even the few short months of wear is worth the effort of making it!

Workshops for the Lily Dress and matching ribbon headband as a gift or for your child are available! Sizes can be adjusted.

Chilling out at Singapore Food Festival in my hacked camisole top and skirt. The food was nice but wish portions were bigger!

The top uses a blue checkered linen and the skirt is my fave denim tencel from Lee Ann Textiles.

I added a built in shelf bra to the top which is a great idea as now I don't have to worry about bra straps showing. The inner bra is a comfy stretchy bamboo jersey from Thye Guan Textile .

I also love that this top uses very little fabric and even less so now that the inner bra is the jersey material. It really can be made from fabric scraps or less than a yard of fabric.

Figuring out hacks to patterns to fit my size is fun and satisfying when the fit is right!

Showcasing my fave tote bag here - the knotted bag here - slung over the shoulder in a side view and styled with a flowy skirt. It brings a pop of fun and colour to any neutral coloured outfit!

I wear it on weekends for casual outings, errands and can also be dressy when paired with a dress and accessories!

It's suitable for advanced beginners or intermediate sewists and can be finished within 4 hours.

My zippered pouch model - the lovely Jacinta! So glad to have caught up with her in Perth and to hear about her life and her volunteer work with Bible Study Fellowship.

We grabbed a fancy lunch at The Little Bay restaurant near Scarborough beach in Perth. And of course, had to get her to pose with the pouch by the coast with its perfect azure blue skyline.

The zippered pouch is a perfect gift for a friend as it can be a quick make using a standard fat quarter size of fabric with matching lining, and it is so pretty and handy! I completed it in record time just before I left for the airport to Perth!

The cloth is a pretty matched perfectly with a bright blue cotton.

The Liberty fabric pouch and other fun sewing workshops are available. More info on our website, link in profile.
