Can't believe I'm so fortunate to once again participate at the national championship (Breeders Trophy) for 6yo Swedish Warmblood horses in eventing 🇸🇪
We had some major mishaps during the dressage test and scored out first "1" since we did a flying change instead of counter canter 😅 Even so I enjoyed every step and the horse felt happy and relaxed.
My nerves spoiled some parts of the showjumping round by overcomplicating things but the horse jumped amazing and would easily have jumped clear if I had not interfered
This was our first attempt at **-level and I found the x-country course a bit daunting to say the least. I know my horse is confident going cross-country and a good jumper so my plan was one jump at a time aiming for a calm, balanced round.
Off we went and my husband, my son and my dad stood ainxously waiting at fence #3 which they found ENORMOUS and I heard them talking on the video "Here she comes" "I do not want to watch" "Will they clear it" and then "Wow!" "They jumped it easily!" and it also felt easy, Roya jumped confidently without hesitation until we suddenly were stopped at fence 15. I understood nothing. It was explained to me I turned left after fence 7 and went to fence 9 instead of continuing straight ahead jumping fence 8.
So I got eliminated and we had cleared 2/3 of the course. How embarrinsing. I was devastaded. How on earth could I forget to jump #8? I had to do the "walk of shame" back to the finish line. I felt like I let everybody down. When I met up with my family the first thing my son said ”You jumped best of all mum, your horse didn’t touch a single fence” Well, I ended up last, eliminated, but I had my family there with me, they stood up at dawn, on a Sunday to support me and I actually feel like a winner 💞🙏🏆
Proud breeder, owner and rider of fabulous Roya, one of a handfull 6yo horses competing at **-level ✨️
