Good morning everyone,
A few weeks ago I posted about Stella, the lovely 3-year-old Border Terrier bitch who had been provisionally reserved. Unfortunately, the family have now decided they would prefer a puppy, so Stella is once again looking for her perfect forever home.
Stella came into our care as her previous owner is shortly to undergo major surgery and, due to ongoing health issues and the demands of a long recovery, they have made the heartbreaking but very responsible decision that they can no longer give her the time, exercise and attention she needs and deserves. This was done entirely with Stella’s best interests at heart.
Stella is a super little Border affectionate, typical terrier character, lively without being over the top, and very people oriented. She has a beautiful clear red coat, good conformation, and a sweet, steady temperament. She is used to family life, travels well, and is generally very biddable.
We are now looking for an experienced, committed home where she can settle in.

"I'm so sorry to call you this late."
It was 3:47 AM when the rescue coordinator’s voice cracked through my phone. Earlier that day, I had picked up Toby—a Border Terrier with a rough little coat, bright curious eyes, and a calm, steady presence. Just a foster, they said. Two weeks, maybe three, until he found his forever home.

“His sister is really struggling,” the coordinator said softly. “She hasn’t stopped crying since Toby left. We tried everything—blankets with his scent, toys, calming wraps. She keeps pacing the kennel and scratching at the door.”

I looked down at Toby, curled up near my bed.
Except he wasn’t sleeping.
His eyes were open.
Focused on the door.
Waiting.

I drove to the shelter at 4 AM in my pajamas.

Molly was exhausted—her little whines hoarse, paws sore from pacing, body trembling with anxiety. The moment she smelled Toby in my car, she pressed herself against the crate and went completely still. Like she could finally breathe again.

“Just foster them together for a few days,” they said. “Until we figure out placement.”

That was eight months ago.

They sleep pressed together every night, scruffy bodies touching like they belong nowhere else. They eat from the same bowl even though I bought two. When Toby goes to the vet, Molly goes too. When Molly feels unsure, Toby quietly stays close.

I was supposed to be their temporary stop.
Turns out, I was their destination.
