Good point, and one of the biggest problems in this is that most modern saddles are built for dysfunctional A frame, based on south European type riding and saddles, keeping those horses well under 80 degree width and causing concave shape.

Once you use this type of saddle and the horse is under 80 degrees, you have very little carrying surface, due to it leaning to much to offer the 45 degree support that all kinds of loads require.

This means clothing clip fitting starts, and it is alleviated with lambswool, offsetting pressure point but making horse wider, and the saddle will tilt…

So when you come across a fitter who says, no I don’t want to continue on this road.
I want to make your horse wider, more comortanle and able to use its back more.
You know you have found the harder but better way of moving ahead. This since there will be more shimming, adjusting and dynamic changes happening.
Don’t hesitate to take that road.

You are doing your horse a service for back health, neck and pelvic health, rideability and long term joy and performance.

Only one down side. You can’t pay for it all the way, you will need to get engaged, learn a few tricks and to pay attention at a new level.
