I couldn’t have had a better teacher.
Everything I know about c**t starting I got from Kyle. He has laid the foundation for my horsemanship and I owe him everything for being able to do what I do today 🫶
We are excited to introduce Kyle Fischer, who will be competing in the Trainers Showdown! Kyle began his riding career in 2011 with the Canadian military, where structure, accountability, and precision were not optional—they were expected. Those early years shaped not only his riding, but his mindset: show up prepared, do the work properly, and take responsibility for the outcome. After leaving the military, Kyle made the decision to pursue horses full-time. Like many true horsemen, his path did not begin with elite prospects or polished show horses. Instead, it began at the bottom—with long days riding 15 to 18 horses, starting young horses, retraining problem horses, and taking on the horses others passed over. Each ride added another layer to his understanding, building a foundation grounded in repetition, feel, and real-world experience. Largely self-developed through experience, Kyle sought knowledge wherever it could be found. He studied classical dressage and its history, gaining an appreciation for balance, straightness, and correctness, while continuing to refine his skills through practical c**t starting and training. That blend—classical principles applied through practical horsemanship—became a defining feature of his riding. As his program evolved, so did his versatility. Kyle has successfully trained and shown horses in reining, cutting, dressage, working equitation, and trainer challenges, developing a reputation as a horseman capable of crossing disciplines without compromising fundamentals. With thousands of horses on his resume, his experience spans a wide range of temperaments, breeds, and challenges. What sets Kyle apart is his ability to quickly read a horse and establish trust early in the training process. His style is not built on intimidation or force, but on timing, clarity, and feel. He believes that good training is less about submission and more about teaching the horse how to learn and hunt ideas—creating understanding rather than resistance.
