🎄🐶 Christmas Dinner & Your Dog – What’s Safe? 🦌
Before those puppy-dog eyes convince you to share your Christmas dinner, here’s a quick guide to what your dog can and can’t enjoy this festive season 🎅🐾
✅ Safe (in small amounts):
• Plain turkey (no skin or bones)
• Salmon (fillets or cooked in spring water – not smoked)
• Lamb (no bones or string)
• Green beans
• Brussels sprouts
• Parsnips
• Carrots
• Peas
• Swede
• Mashed potato (no butter)
• New potatoes
• Sweet potatoes
⚠️ Top tips:
Introduce new foods slowly, avoid fatty or salty foods, and reduce their normal meal if you’re giving festive treats to prevent overindulging.
🚫 Dangerous Christmas foods for dogs:
❌ Chocolate
❌ Mince pies, Christmas pudding & cake (raisins/sultanas/currants)
❌ Onions, garlic, leeks & chives (including gravy)
❌ Alcohol
❌ Macadamia nuts
❌ Leftovers (hidden ingredients & mould)
❌ Sweets containing xylitol
