Another amazing opportunity to get one of our long stay doggies into a loving home!

Albert was found with his sister - Betty - after a family abandoned them on the street. After our post earlier this week, many are now familiar with what their fate could have been without Theea taking them in 😔

Albert, like his sister, is extremely shy. Most likely due to his unknown past. He was around 6 months old when rescued, and has spent the remaining 4 years waiting for his own home 💞

Our foster family is in Sweden. She has already taken on our famous Lulu (who now has his own TikTok account due to how loved he is by his new mum!) who waited 2 years since he was a puppy.
Due to how loving and well kept Lulu arrived, she contacted us again to help other dogs waiting with Theea.
Once Albert is rehabilitated and ready to be adopted, she will then foster another shy dog (perhaps his sister who’s still waiting) and the cycle repeats 🐶

Our foster family has donated €200 towards this cost. Unfortunately, due to the distance of Sweden, the transport is €400.
This leaves €200 to be raised - but once we do this, we can recycle the adoption money for Albert and get another doggy into this loving home with Lulu as a big friendly brother!

Betty was found alone and abandoned at 6 weeks old on the dumping field. This was 18 months ago. She is very playful, loves humans and dogs, and can live with cats!
She is around 14-16 kilos ❤️

Wow.

An incredible achievement.

Roger waited his turn, and with the help of Stina Mathiesen Joanna Rogers Jannie Nørgaard Jerfort Penny Lockyear Emma Nuttall Christine Lee Nancy Wilkinson (for covering our food bill and allowing us to post our next fundraiser 💕) and several others we are not able to tag, Roger has secured a ticket on the happy bus to an amazing foster home in Devon, UK Cas Hopley

You will forever know cuddles, kindness, warmth and companionship in your golden years sweet boy.

Good luck on your new adventure and we look forward to seeing you adopted once you’re settled.

Two sisters, Sahara and Hope.
Scared, anxious girls - and because of this, extremely hard to get adopted.
We understand why, but it breaks our hearts every day nevertheless.

We hope to re-home them together, but the chances of them being adopted at all is slim, never mind together 😔

For dogs like Sahara and Hope, we have an aim to buy land next to the shelter so the dogs can run free. So they can live their lives as close to their lucky friends who will/have been adopted as possible.

⚠️ WARNING - UPSETTING READ ⚠️

When we receive negative comments about the rescue, we really don’t mind.

It’s an opportunity to educate people on how these animals lives would look outside of the shelter.

If they weren’t with Theea, where would they be?

There are a few possibilities.

- Starving in the middle of nowhere

- Injured after being hit by a car and left to die

- Being abused by people on the street

- Having 2 weeks to live in a kill shelter after being traumatically caught

What happens in the 2 weeks in a kill shelter?

Dogs are rarely fed daily, live in their own body waste and often don’t see sunlight. Several dogs are placed together and can fight, resulting in severe injury or death.
If the animals survive to the 14 day mark - which is not often due to starvation, beatings or strangulation - dogs are euthanised without a sedative and often incorrectly due to the large scale of dogs being euthanised, which makes them panic and die slower, painfully.
Every Monday, bin bags of dogs are lined up outside the kennels ready to be disposed of.

As public shelters are paid to kill dogs, it encourages the capture and killing of them.

An estimated 25,000 dogs are killed in these shelters every single year.

The reality is much darker than this, we won’t go into too much detail but if you’d like to read up on this, it’s important to know the truth.

Here at Theea’s we have experience with kill shelters. Theea has been in several, trying to save those poor souls. One of our volunteers has been inside and found dogs dead of starvation. You could not imagine the smell. The whole experience is something that will forever stay with you.

When we get unkind comments, it almost makes us envy people’s views on what happens in Romania.
It makes us jealous they don’t know the truth.

We see the reality every single day.
Dogs and cats dead on the side of the road.
Lone puppies without their mothers because they’ve been sent to a kill shelter or hit by cars. Animals limping. Locals chasing them away.

We know that these dogs deserve better, and that is what we are trying to do. We want these animals to be adopted. And we are working our way through them all. One by one. But we will never be empty with the way things are in Romania.
