Here, at Focus Kennel, we are trying to breed dobermanns that will meet three important criteria: beauty, character and health. The breed standard specifies how a dobermann should look like and how his character should be. It describes the anatomical parts considering the functionality of the breed. There is no such thing as a "picture of the ideal dobermann". Every breeder and every judge, by rea
ding the standard, developed his own vision (picture) about the ideal dobermann. We have our own vision about this: for us, most important is the head type and overall harmony, the dog as a whole should be well proportioned. We are seeking for an open character, well balanced. Our breeding females have to pass at least the ZTP exam before having a litter. The health of a future litter is something that every responsible breeder should have in mind. We are trying to use studs with HD exams, vWd exams and lately DCM gene tests. You cannot quit one of these three criteria without losing something. You cannot have an ugly (read with functionality problems) but healthy dog, or a good looking one with an improper character. We are trying to obtain the dog that is an ideal family member, a successful show dog and a good sport dog and above all a healthy dog. Of course, not all the time we succeed. The passion for Dobermanns made me travel all over Europe and meet many dobermann fanciers: breeders, judges ar just owners to whom I share my passion. I had a lot to learn from them and I still have, therefore I would like to thank those who were beside me over the years but also those who criticized my work in a constructive manner. Last, but not least, I would like to mention my dear friends Claudia & Adrian Bucur,Victor Mortu and George Bundan to whom I share the passion for over ten years. They became my partners in this project, in this dream come true: The Focus Kennel.
