Sterilizari Rurale/ Spay-Neuter for Rural Dogs in Romania, is a project developed by All Life Matters Association - A.L.M.A, in the hopes of ending the suffering of stray dogs by limiting the uncontrolled breeding of unwanted pets. Rural areas, small towns and villages of Romania are the primary source of unwanted litters of puppies and the source for continuous breeding of mongrels, which will i
nevitably end on the streets. For a dog population management policy to be efficient, it must address the cause rather than the effect, that is why we believe that a spay/neuter campaign for the dogs in the households of each community is the most efficient method. With the help and support of Paws2Rescue and Battersea, two organization from the UK, we are carrying out a continuous spay and neuter program in Moldova Nouă, in the county of Caras-Severin. We do not support capturing and putting dogs in shelters, this practice is just a band-aid on a deep wound, it encourages breeding litters and owner-surrender-abandonment, while the dogs end up in horrific conditions behind bars.
