An autumn day in the Carpathians. Deep fog on the ridges. Happily the horses know the way back home to the ranch 🙏 🍁

We went riding in late October and somehow ended up in winter. ❄️🐎

Today we went looking for a new campsite for next year’s packhorse rides.

We actually discovered this spot years ago after taking a wrong turn. A meadow, a rock, a mountain stream — and absolutely nowhere else we need to be.

Would you spend a night here? 🌲🐴⛺ horsebackriding

Meet our retired horses. 🤍

All of them have been with us for many years. They carried us through the mountains, took our guests on countless rides and became part of our story.

When their working days are over, their story doesn’t end.

We don’t sell them on. They stay with us, and we continue to care for them for the rest of their lives.

They have given us so much over the years. The least we can do is give something back.

Today, they have 350 hectares near Gheorgheni to roam, graze and simply be horses.

They’ve earned their retirement. And we owe them that. 🤍 carpathians romania

Gone far too soon, and so unexpectedly.
You left us without warning, most likely from a sudden heart attack.

You were a beautiful soul, a loyal companion, and deeply loved.
Your time with us was far too short, but the memories you leave behind will last forever.

Run free, Tschango. 🌈
We will remember you ❤️
