Otocinclus look like tiny innocent angels — the sweet, quiet nerds of the aquarium. But dontt be fooled. These little algae vacuums come with emotional damage and trust issues straight from the wild. You buy them thinking they’re going to save your tank from algae and then they spend the first week hiding like they’re in witness protection. Meanwhile, the algae laughs and multiplies.

And feeding them? Good luck. They’ll ignore every food you drop in and somehow survive off invisible algae molecules that only they can see. You offer blanched zucchini like a proud parent offering a gourmet meal, and they look at you like you’ve offended their ancestors.

Then one day — randomly — they decide they love you. They cling to the glass, clean everything, act like model citizens… and just when you think everything is perfect? Boom. One disappears. No body. No clues. No explanation. Owning Otos is basically being in a toxic relationship: you give them love, food, and perfect water — and they ghost you anyway.😭😆💔
