Nikita can spend hours digging around the many fields behind our house, if not stimulated enough she’ll dig in our garden too or chew things up inside the house. Sometimes she’ll bring back trophies of her hunts such as this poor little mouse. But it’s obvious given her genetic carry some terrier as well as some greyhound in her, so both hunting breeds.

Yet so many people don’t stop to think about the genetics of their dogs. They go by looks or trends, choose the completely wrong dog for their lifestyle and get angry when the dog shows his real character.

Would you get a Ferrari and then complain that you constantly get stuck in the mud when you go off roading?

Then why get a life stock guardian and complain that he barks at noises at night, a husky and complain about the absence of an off leash recall, or a working dog and complain of his OCD when all he gets is two 30 minute walks around the block at most.

Choose your dog wisely and honor the generations of traits they carry within them. They were bred for a reason.
