Recently, we've seen a flurry of XL Bully attacks in the UK - this is 2 years after the breed ban came into place!
Thankfully, not all of these attacks were fatal. But not because the XL Bully in question let go of their victim like any normal dog would have, no: The victimes who escaped either were saved by armed police, by courageous fellow humans, or, like in this recent case, by themselves climbing a fence and jumping into a river to get away from the attacking mauler.
These are not simply cases of "dog attacks" or "dog bites", no, they are purposefully instigated maulings with intent to end the victim's life, it's as simple and as horrible as that.

It’s become clear to me that a significant portion of our society still struggles with the idea that weaponizing dogs is fundamentally wrong, harmful to both humans and dogs alike, especially given the availability of more humane and effective alternatives.

You might have noticed that our work often highlights intersectionality, addressing interconnected systems of oppression, even when it’s unpopular or uncomfortable. This commitment isn’t going to change.

I want every person reading this to understand something clearly: Our goal is genuine change and a deeper public understanding of complex, sometimes controversial issues.

True progress often means confronting uncomfortable realities and challenging widely accepted norms.

DOG TRAINERS - can we PLEASE stop ignoring the blatantly obvious issue that PIT BULL type dogs are k'lling people more and more frequently?
Numbers don't lie. BREED MATTERS. Shelters lie, people die. Today's happily rehomed "Lab Mix" can cause tomorrow's fatality.

And yet, the vast majority of canine professionals doesn't seem to dare utter a word about this. Why? Because doing so would be considered "inflammatory" by your certifying organizations?

It's time to wake up, for trainers, behaviorists and organizations (both balanced and force-free), and to stop ignoring the big ugly elefant in the room.
Let's read this article, look at the numbers, and rethink our position.

BEHOLD THE NIGHT GUARDIANS!
My husband filmed his recent encounter with a pair of giant flock guardian dogs (almost certainly shorthaired Estrela Mountain Dogs) high up in the mountains of Portugal.
These dogs are out on night patrol from dusk to dawn and will respond to any perceived threat - wolves, foxes, wild boar, lynx as well as humans - that ventures too close for their comfort to their property, and the animals they are guarding.
Luckily, both of the livestock protection dogs in this video are blessed with a stable temperament and, after a brief bluff-charge and a lot of barking, retreat back to their enclosure.

AND we have another near-fatal attack of a Pitbull on their owner - but "it's not the breed, it's how you raise them" / "it's the owner's fault" / "pitbulls are not more dangerous than any other dogs", right?
WAKE UP, people! Don't buy into the pitbull lobby's propaganda!

The woman was trying to put the dog on the balcony because it was showing signs of aggression and that's when it attacked.
