Countdown is on!

We've been getting ready for the Cat Extravaganza this weekend at the Portland Expo Center with Steven Meserve and Loving Cats Worldwide - we are so excited!

This is a super fun event where you can learn a lot about cat breeds, their traits and characteristics and see some really cool cats, plus you can mingle with other rescue organizations and small business vendors. We will also be selling fun cat merch to raise funds for spay and neuter surgeries.

We will also be doing a presentation on TNR on Sunday!! Thank you Steven for giving us a platform to speak about TNR with community cats and the importance of spay and neuter.

The Extravaganza is from 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be found on the Expo Center website or the Loving Cats Worldwide page. Hope to see you this weekend!

🐱🏆 THE ST. PETERSBURG KITTEN COUNTDOWN — WE’VE REACHED THE TOP! 😻

Meet this magnificent Abyssinian kitten from my Saturday class at the St. Petersburg CATSTRAVAGANZA®!

And before you come for me, I KNOW Abyssinia isn’t Egypt! 😂 But here’s why I associate the Abyssinian with the cats of the pharaohs!

Just look at that elegant body, gorgeous ears, beautiful expression and stunning ticked coat! Doesn’t he resemble the cats depicted throughout ancient Egyptian art?

Here’s a little history!

In 1868, a cat named Zula was reportedly brought to Britain from Abyssinia, now Ethiopia. In 1871, a cat listed as coming from Abyssinia appeared at London’s famous Crystal Palace cat show, helping establish the breed’s name.

But genetic research suggests Asian ancestry, and similar-looking cats were depicted throughout ancient Egypt!

And did you know that in 2021, we held a special 150th-anniversary commemorative cat show at Crystal Palace celebrating that historic 1871 event?

Watch to see how this gorgeous kitten placed! 😻

And today, meet this absolutely stunning five-month-old cream and white Persian kitten!

Just LOOK at the grooming on this little boy! Absolutely incredible! That gorgeous full coat, beautiful expression, wonderful round eyes and everything I love to see in a beautiful example of the Persian breed!

He’s my BEST PERSIAN from Saturday’s kitten class, but how far will he go in my final all-breed rankings? You’ll have to watch to find out! 🏆
