It’s a good time to talk about Ellie!

Ellie came to the shelter with her siblings when she was just a few months old. Almost two years later, she and her sister Maya are the only two left out of seven.

Ellie has lots of energy and loves being active. Whether it’s going for a run, swimming, or playing a game of fetch, she’s always happy to join you and is always up for a good time!

It was about time we introduced you guys to Emmett properly!

Emmett came to us from Puerto Rico Animal Rescue, one of our shelter partners. If we had to describe him in one sentence, it’d be: “he never stops wagging his tail.”

Emmett is dog-friendly and gentle. He loves giving kisses and getting attention, and he’s always happy to be around people and dogs!

He spent some time in a foster home before coming to us, and is now available for adoption, fostering, walks, or even taking him out for the day!

We’d love for you to get to know Emmett as much as we have!

It’s time to talk about Reuben, our current Dog of the Week and one of the volunteers’ favorites!

Reuben came to us from our shelter partner, Puerto Rico Animal Rescue in Bayamón, after someone threatened to poison him, claiming he was killing their chickens.

He was taken in to keep him safe and prevent him from being harmed.

Reuben is still looking for a home of his own, and in the meantime, he’s available for walks and adventures outside the shelter!

Not everyone is in a position to adopt, but there are so many other ways to make a difference in a dog’s life. Whether it’s fostering, volunteering, taking a dog on an outing, donating, or simply sharing their story, every little bit helps give our dogs a better chance at finding their home!

There’s more than one way to be part of a second chance!

Darsy’s puppies had a big day today! They went to the vet for their first round of vaccines after previously receiving their deworming treatment and wellness check

We’re slowly getting to see more of their personalities as they grow, play, and interact more each day. They’re making progress, and it won’t be long before they’re ready to find their forever homes!

It was about time we made a post about Duke!

Yesterday, Duke got to spend the day out with one of our caretakers, taking a break from the shelter noise. He met some chickens, made a new friend in our caretaker’s dog, and enjoyed some much-needed time to just be a dog. Duke is becoming one of our longest residents, and we would love to see him get the chance to experience life in a foster home!

He’s a smaller dog who enjoys leisurely walks, companionship, and simply having someone around.

Sometimes, getting a dog out of the shelter and into a home is exactly what they need. Reach out to learn more about fostering or adopting Duke!

With the wonderful streak of long-time residents finding their forever homes, we’re hoping Coconut will be next!

Coconut has been with us for over two years, and despite having more than three adoption interests, things have unfortunately never worked out.

Coconut is an active dog who loves getting out and about, but he’s just as happy to slow down, enjoy some cuddles, and spend a quiet day at home. He has so much potential to be someone’s companion, and we would love to finally see him experience life outside the shelter!

A week of good luck with the news that Ginger has been ADOPTED!!!

As one of our longest residents, Ginger’s adoption is extra special! We’re happy she finally got her chance at a home of her own!

Ginger is now home enjoying all the attention she deserves as a solo dog, with new siblings who apparently can’t agree on who gets to sleep next to her at night!

We’re happy for Ginger and her family, and can’t wait to see her enjoy this next and final chapter!
