vWD II status of my chinese cresteds.
Few of my dogs have genetic 'affected' status without any signs of this disorder, other are genetic 'carriers'.
My first tested dogs - Wizard Rosa Thea and Veronica Rosa Thea are tested carriers. Than I tested Wesssi Rosa Thea - and she is genetically affected. I have tested them AFTER they had been used for breeding as it is quite new test. All owners of my puppies have been informed.
Wessi hadn't have any extra bleeding during all her life, no extra bleeding during her seasons, no extra bleeding during giving birth (to her first and only litter), no extra bleeding during sterylization. She has active, happy life and I wouldn't tell she has vWD without genetic test. I tested Wizard and Veronica becouse they had few litters together and I wanted to learn as much as possible about my lines. So results (carrier) was great shock for me).
Here are results of all my dogs:
Babsy Face Xantusia - carrier
Wizard Rosa Thea - carrier
Veronica Rosa Thea - carrier
Water Lily Rosa Thea - affected
Wessi Rosa Thea - affected
Triss Rosa Thea - carrier
Tiago Rosa Thea - affected
Unbeleivable Thorgal Rosa Thea - affected
Unbeaten Uma Rosa Thea - carrier
That means that two males I used in my breeding programme, with two different lines must also be carriers (Sasquehanna Zachod and Moonswift Bronze Cheiftan)
From my experience genetically affected chinese crested don't develop any phisical signs of vWD, they have active, happy lifes. I think this knowledge might help before surgery etc. I think it is better to know than not to know.
There are few laboratories where it is possible to make this test, like:
