Periodontal Disease in Dogs

Here is the visual guide every pet parent should see: the Visual Periodontal Disease Assessment Tool that breaks down canine gum & teeth health into 5 simple grades (0‑IV).
Grade 0: No disease: healthy gums & clean teeth (no plaque/tartar).
Grade I: Gingivitis: mild gum redness + a little plaque.
Grade II: Early periodontitis: red, swollen gums + subgingival plaque & mild calculus.
Grade III: Moderate periodontitis: gums may bleed, recession or hyperplasia + moderate‑severe calculus, possibly loose teeth.
Grade IV: Severe periodontitis: intense inflammation, bleeding gums, pus pockets + lots of subgingival calculus & missing/loose teeth.

Why it matters: catching periodontal disease early can save your dog from pain, tooth loss & systemic health issues. Regular dental checks & cleanings are key to keeping those canine smiles healthy!

🐾 Don’t Wait – Your Pet Depends on You! 🐾
If your pet seems unwell — even just a little off — don’t ignore it or wait it out. Animals often hide signs of illness until it becomes serious. What may seem like a minor issue today could turn into a life-threatening emergency tomorrow.
Trust your instincts.
If something doesn’t seem right:✔️ Loss of appetite✔️ Unusual behavior✔️ Vomiting or diarrhea✔️ Difficulty breathing✔️ Lethargy or restlessness✔️ Any sudden change in normal behaviour

👉 Don’t delay. Contact your veterinarian or visit the nearest animal clinic immediately.
Your pet can’t tell you what’s wrong — but they’re counting on you to notice.Early treatment can save their life and reduce long-term costs.
Be the voice they don’t have. When in doubt, check it out. 💙

“Did you know that cats can receive blood transfusions just like humans? 🐱💉 Blood transfusions in cats are often used to treat conditions like anemia, cancer, or severe injury and many other conditions. If your kitty ever needs a blood transfusion, it’s crucial to work with a veterinarian to ensure the best possible outcome. A cat recently presented to our clinic with the complain of anorexia, paleness, weight loss, and a CBC revealed severe anaemia. 🐾 After careful consideration, our team of expert decided to proceed with blood transfusion to stabilise the cat’s condition. We’re optimist about the cat chances of recovery with prompt treatment. Let’s wish the brave kitty a full and speedy recovery! 🤲🏻
