Demodex Cyanotis:
The Microscopic Mite Affecting Pets 🐾💡_
What is it? 🤔
Demodex cyanotis is a tiny mite that infests the ear canals and surrounding skin of cats and dogs 🐶🐱. It lives in hair follicles and sebaceous glands, causing discomfort and skin issues.
Symptoms 🐾😿
- Ear itching and redness
- Inflammation, crusting, and scaling
- Frequent scratching and discomfort
- Secondary infections may occur
Causes 🐕💔
- Normally found on skin, but overgrowth occurs due to immune suppression or underlying health issues
Diagnosis 🔬
- Confirmed by microscopic examination of ear or skin scrapings
Treatment 💊
- Remove debris from ears
- Use miticidal otic preparations (e.g., milbemycin, ivermectin) and systemic miticidal treatments (e.g., selamectin, ivermectin) to eliminate mites

Know the facts about Cardiomegaly in Cats! 🐱❤️

Causes:
- Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) due to taurine deficiency
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) linked to genetics, hypertension, or hyperthyroidism
- Hyperthyroidism, hypertension, kidney failure, heartworm, and more!

Watch for these signs:
- Difficulty breathing
