Turkish breed raised especially for the Ottoman sultans. In his homeland, he is known
under the name of Hünkari: the bird of the sultan's palace.
It is known that at the request of the sultans a special breed of pigeons was
raised in Manisa Palace. (Manisa is an ancient Ottoman city in western Turkey).
The sultan's pigeon breeders have developed this unique breed of pigeon.
For centuries, the race has been kept away from ordinary people. This is one
of the reasons why Hünkari is still known as the bird of the sultans in
his homeland. The white spots on the tail are called the sultan's seal. That's why it's a
important feature in the Satinet standard.
Hünkari, or as it is known today outside Turkey, Classic oriental frill a
was first imported into England by HPCaridia in 1864 from
Izmir. It was first exhibited in the National Society of
Pigeon lovers in 1879 in America
It is the precursor breed from which they were created by methods of reproduction
selective wide breeds. Hünkari (Classic Satin) have fewer features
exaggerated, unlike today's satin or blonde. They can
feed their chicks because their beaks have not been reduced in size
extremely small, like exhibition breeds. Hünkari (Classical Satin) is another
