The Turkish Kangal, also known as the Kangal Shepherd Dog, is a breed of large livestock guardian dog originally from the Sivas province in Turkey.

The breed was originally used by nomadic shepherds to protect their livestock, primarily sheep and goats, from predators such as wolves and bears.
