π©Έ Lifesaving Blood Transfusion β A Critical Moment for a Brave Patient πΆβ€οΈ
Today we performed a life-saving blood transfusion on a critically anemic dog who came in with:
Pale to white gums
Weakness and collapse
High fever and jaundice
Rapid breathing and no appetite
After confirming a severe drop in red blood cells, we acted fast. A healthy donor dog was matched, and blood was safely collected and transfused over several hours with careful monitoring.
π Within hours: β
Breathing improved
β
Temperature normalized
β
Gums and eye color began returning
β
The dog became more responsive
π Blood transfusions in veterinary medicine arenβt just about replacing lost blood β they can mean the difference between life and death when the body can't keep up.
Whether due to tick-borne diseases, immune-mediated destruction, or severe bleeding, transfusions can stabilize a patient long enough to treat the underlying cause.
π©Ί This is a reminder of the power of prompt intervention, and the importance of having healthy donor dogs available when emergencies strike.
