Dolly, also known as Dolores, the half-faced dog and animal welfare ambassador of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), has died peacefully at the PAWS Shelter.
PAWS said Dolly spent her final moments in the arms of her fur-parents, Tej and Deb, with her sister Lizzie by her side. Volunteers also joined through Zoom to say goodbye to the dog who became a symbol of the fight against animal cruelty.
Dolly, who was once an island dog, became a victim of animal cruelty after someone threw boiling oil at her face. Despite her injuries, she survived and later joined PAWS in lobbying for the proposed ALAGA Bill, which seeks to impose stronger penalties for animal cruelty.
Although Dolly did not live to see the measure passed, PAWS said her story will remain part of the campaign for stronger animal protection. (Facebook/PAWS Philippines)
