Parvo, short for parvovirus, refers to a viral infection that primarily affects dogs, particularly puppies. It's caused by the canine parvovirus (CPV), which attacks rapidly dividing cells in the dog's body. The virus primarily targets the intestines, bone marrow, and the heart.

There are two main forms of parvo in dogs:

Intestinal form: This is the most common, leading to symptoms like severe vomiting, diarrhea (often with blood), lethargy, loss of appetite, and dehydration.

Cardiac form: This form affects puppies' hearts, leading to heart failure and potentially sudden death. It’s less common now because of widespread vaccination.

Parvo is highly contagious and spreads through contact with an infected dog's f***s, or contaminated environments (e.g., dog parks, grooming salons). It can be fatal if not treated, but with early intervention, especially intravenous fluids and supportive care, many dogs recover.

Vaccination is the best preventive measure, and puppies should receive a series of parvo vaccines to protect them as they grow.

Please be informed that the clinic is open from February 18 to 23 2025 from 1pm to 8pm. There will be no veterinarian available for consultation on these days as the Veterinarian will be attending a scientific conference. Services available are Vaccinations, deworming and purchasing.

The vet will be available from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM today. Consultations and vaccinations will be available once the vet arrives. Other services, such as the pharmacy and deworming, are available from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM today. For scheduled vaccines and follow-ups, please be here before 6pm, or you may come the next day (February 7, 2025).
